How to Create a Funding Estimate in Portico FA

Using Student Lookup, search for the student you would like to package aid for and open their student Details page in CORE.

Scroll down to the white section between "Award Information" and "Document Tracking" and click on the "0 Funding Estimates" link. Note: The number displayed will increase and mirror how many estimates have been created for this student in the system so will not always read "0".

In the expanded area that will appear, select the "Funding Estimate +" button as seen below to begin creating the student's funding estimate.

Using the dropdown in the Enrollment Information section, select the student's enrollment that you would like to package aid for.

When packaging one academic year at a time, you will need to enter the amount of credits you would like to package in this academic year in the "AY Units" field.

In the "AY Start Date" field, you will need to enter the first day of the academic year for which you are trying to package aid. For example, if it is a new students, their AY start date would coincide with their actual start date. However, if you are packaging a subsequent academic year, you'll want to be sure to use the start date of that particular academic year instead.

Now that you've entered the student's enrollment information, you'll need to indicate what ISIR you would like CORE to use when packaging this aid.

In the ISIR Information section, use the "Select Existing ISIR" dropdown to see all ISIRs that have been received for this student and select the appropriate one for scheduling purposes.

Once an ISIR is selected from the dropdown, the ISIR Information section will populate with the data from that particular ISIR. You can now click "Save" to have CORE create this funding estimate.

In the top left corner, you will see the student's information displayed. The eye icon in this section will open a pop up of the student's Details page should you need to consult it during packaging.

As you continue to the right, the next section lists the details of the program the student is currently being packaged for. More details can be seen by following the eye icon shown here.

Next you'll find the Cost of Attendance. These figures can be updated for any student who will not have the standard charges applied (e.g. Books and Supplies can be zeroed out for students who will purchase books outside of your institution). The eye icon shown in this section will link you to a cost chart for this COA broken down by month.

Below these sections you will see the ISIR Information section. It will display information taken directly from the students ISIR that will be relevant during packaging such as Pell LEU, Aggregate Loan Limits, and the student's SAI. Clicking the eye icon will let you view the ISIR directly.

The Totals section on the right will display in real time the calculation of the charges listed above in the COA section for the student minus any aid that is listed at the bottom of the estimate. This section will update as you adjust the student's aid below.

Scrolling down to the funding estimate itself, at the top you'll see the total number of credits you indicated you wanted to package on this estimate. Note: You can update this number if you previously indicated the wrong amount during the initial creation steps. Once updated, you will want to click Save/Refresh for the estimate to update and reflect the corrected amount.

Below you'll see the academic year that was calculated by CORE for this student's packaging. These dates can be adjusted for special scenarios where the academic year may need to be extended.

Below the Academic Year, you will see the terms and credits that are being packaged for the student. CORE will always divide the credits evenly between all terms being packaged, but these can be adjusted manually to list the actual credit distribution across the terms.

The Disbursement Dates section displays the disbursement date that each disbursement will be projected for. The dates populated will reflect any 30 day funding delays for first time borrowers or funding delays related to the census date. These dates apply only to direct loans, as Pell will always disburse as soon as the student is eligible.

Below the Disbursement Dates row, you can see the funding being requested for the student. The "Max Elig." column will display the maximum amount the student is eligible to receive based on their specific details. If the student will be requesting less than the maximum amount they could receive, you can update the Gross Amt column to reflect what the student will actually be requesting. The Net Amt column will update automatically when a new Gross Amt is entered.

If you have any non-Title IV awards to package for the student, they can be listed in the Other Funding section. Select the fund type you would like to add from the dropdown.

Once the fund type has been selected, you will need to enter the Gross and Net amounts for each term being packaged. **Be sure to enter an amount in both columns. If you only enter an amount in the Gross column it will not be calculated in the total aid below.**

Once you have completed adding funding for the student, **be sure to uncheck Auto-Recalculate** before saving. **If you do not uncheck Auto-Recalculate before saving, the funding estimate will revert to it's original calculations and you will have to reenter any changes that were made.**

Take a moment to review the funding estimate in total to identify any errors that may need to be corrected before making the estimate visible to the student.

Once the estimate has been saved and you have confirmed the funding information listed is correct, you are ready to send the estimate to a student for review and acceptance of the funding. Clicking the "Send Text For Signature" button will send the student a text message with a link to the estimate you created.
