Login to the Data Downloader
1
Open the Data Downloader app and login with your DHIS2 credentials
Tip! This is the information you would normally use to login to DHIS2 – the FASTR data downloader does not handle DHIS2 account registration. It can only access DHIS2 systems for which you have valid credentials.
Download data
2
The application opens on the Download Home page. Click here to select the level at which you want to download data: Organization Units. If you leave this unselected, data will be downloaded for the entire country.
3
OPTIONAL: If you are interested in data for a particular region, district, or facility, click on the + to expand the list, locate your unit of interest, and check the box on the left.
4
Next you can search for the data you would like to download. You can search alll data types or you can narrow the search by selecting Data Elements, Indicators, Program Indicators, or DataSet.
5
Type in the relevant search terms. Example: "BCG" and select from the dropdown menu the indicator you need.
6
Click "Select"
7
Repeat this process to select all the indicators of interest.
8
Select the organizational level at which you want to download data. For example, choosing 'Facility' will download data for each individual facility, while selecting 'District' will provide data aggregated at the district level.
Tip! To select an organizational level, click directly on the name (e.g., 'Facility' or 'District') rather than the checkbox next to it.
Tip! If you have already selected specific state from org units, it would make more sense to select lower organization levels (province, district, health facility)
9
For the FASTR analysis, we will download facility level data. Click "Health Facility"
10
Set the aggregation frequency for your data (e.g., monthly or yearly) based on your analysis needs. For the FASTR analysis, select monthly.
11
Once you have selected the data frequency, use the calendar to select a start date and an end date.
12
OPTIONAL: Disaggregations....
13
Click "Download"
14
Optional but recommended. Split your data in smaller files to download.
15
Click "Save". Make sure to give each file downloaded a unique name.
Tip! If you reuse a file name, the new data will be appended to the existing file instead of creating a new data file.
16
Success....
