How to Schedule a Pre-Professional Advising (Pre-Health/Pre-Law) Appointment

This guide provides instructions on how to navigate the Penji platform to book a pre-health or pre-law advising session. Learn how to select the correct pre-professional category to connect with the right advisor for your specific academic goals. You have two options: meet with anyone from that team or meet with the pre-professional advisor assigned to you. Use the menu on the left to guide you appropriately.

Open your Penji app or navigate to Penji on the web <https://web.penjiapp.com/schools/tulane> Make sure you are on the Student Homepage! If not, click the "Student Homepage" button. On the home page, you will see a host of options to choose from including your College Advisors, and options to book with the ALTC, The Writing Center and CAIDS.

Meet with Anyone on the Pre-Professional Team

Click "Schedule a 30-minute 1-on-1 appointment (College Advisor, Transfer Credit, or Pre-Professional)" PLEASE NOTE that Transfer Credit and Pre-Professional meetings are no shorter than 30 minutes. You will not be able to book a 15-minute appointment with this unit.

Click "Pre-Professional Advising - Pre-Health/Pre-Law Discussions Only (no 15 min)" found under "Pinned Topics" Please note that 15-minute appointments are not available with this unit.

You will then see all the time blocks in which the advisor is available. Choose a time block that works for you. PLEASE NOTE: you can view available appointment blocks for two weeks at a time. Click the next-week arrow (to the right of the date) if no appointments show in the first week.

Note the time you have selected. If correct, click "Select." If not, choose a better time.

Here, you should see the advisors from that team that are available at that time. Choose an advisor. PLEASE NOTE: if only one advisor shows, that is the only advisor available for the time you have chosen. Not all advisors are available during your chosen time block. If this does not satisfy your needs, click the arrow back to choose a different time block to reveal other advisors.

Click "Select"

Next, you will specify where you would like to meet with your advisor. Choose "Mussafer Hall, Building #9 - 2nd or 3rd Floor Waiting Room-Specified Upon Check-In" to have an in-person meeting. Choose "Zoom Meeting - Online" to have a remote meeting via Zoom video conferencing system. PLEASE NOTE: if only one option shows up, that is the only option available for the time you have chosen. Some advisors only offer one location for a given time block. If this does not satisfy your needs, click the arrow back to choose a different time block.

Then, state what you would like to discuss in the meeting agenda field. Completing this step will help your advisor adequately prepare for your meeting.

Click "Next"

Review this summary of all your choices. If everything looks good, click "Complete" If any adjustments are needed, click the left arrow in the upper-left of the screen to make changes.

Click "Create"

And that's it! You will receive an Outlook invite email with the Zoom link and the same information shown on the Overview screen. Also, you will see your booked appointments in your Penji home screen. [Click to return to the NTC College Advising website.](https://advising.tulane.edu/penjihelp)

Meet with the Pre-Professional Advisor Assigned to ME

Steps are the same as the process above to meet with anyone from that team. However, instead of choosing the Pinned Topic, you will see a button under "Enrolled Topics" that is labeled "Meet with ADVISOR NAME - Your Pre-Professional Advisor" Please note that 15-minute appointments are not available with this unit.

From that point forward, everything else is the same until you get to the "Available Advisors" screen. Here, you should only see the name of the Pre-Professional Advisor assigned to you. Choose your advisor.

And that's it! Once you complete the rest of the steps, you will receive an Outlook invite email with the Zoom link and the same information shown on the Overview screen.
