How to Perform Initial Screening

Learn how to perform an Initial Screening in SILO to check profiles against global data sources for sanctions, PEP status, and adverse media. Record and review screening results to maintain a clear, auditable history of your screening decisions.

Before creating a new profile, search for the individual or entity to ensure they do not already exist in SILO. This helps prevent duplicate records. Click **Profiles** in the left-hand navigation menu.

Select **Initial Screening** from the pop-out submenu.

Select the appropriate **Profile Type** before searching.\ In this example, we are searching for an **Individual**.\ **Note:** Vessels should be searched as Entities.

In the **Name** field, enter the individual’s name (e.g. *Boris Johnson*).

Click **Submit** to run the screening across 800+ data sources.

Review the list of results. To see more detail on a potential match, click **Details**.

The **Details** window displays key information, including: - Nationalities - Addresses - Contact details - Aliases Click **Download PDF** to generate the full screening report.

The report includes sanctions data, PEP status, adverse media, identity details, associates, business links, and source references for full review.

If you can confirm a true match, click **Create SILO Contact for Matching Profile**.

The profile will now be created in SILO.

Navigate to the **Documents** tab. The **Initial Screening Report** will have been automatically saved to the profile for audit and future reference.

If none of the search results are a correct match, click **Create Profile** under *“None of these match your individual?”*

The profile will now be created in SILO.

Navigate to the **Documents** tab. The **Initial Screening Report-No Match** will have been automatically saved to the profile for audit and future reference.
