Creating a Student Room in MagicSchool AI (Including Customization)

Navigate to <https://app.magicschool.ai/tools>Click **"Launch to Students"** button.

Click **"Launch New Room."**

Create a **Room Name** that will be visible to all students. Establish a **Grade Level**, which will establish the default tool level, for this room. Your customization choices can override this. Choose a **Max # of Students** for the room. (Typically this stays the same with the system's 250 max; however, if you want to have a few room "options" but want to limit student numbers so there is an equal distribution in each room, you might change this.

Chose the tool or tools that you want to share with students in this specific Room. - Click the tool one time to add it to the room. Do this as many times as you want. - Click the tool a second time if you don't want to select that tool. - You can use the tool(s) as-is or customize them after they've be selected.

Once you have selected your chosen tool or tools, click **"Next."**

Click **"Customize"** if you want to apply specific customizations.

If you wish, you can customize all of the following so it is clearer to students what they are to do with the tool. In this example, I chose the "Create Step by Step Directions tool. You can see at the bottom of the page that it makes suggestions as to how this tool might be used. - To learn more about Customization, here's a quick [YouTube Video](https://youtu.be/m2gwNT84DJs?si=wDQebRwf6ICrTI1z) that goes more indepth. (4-minutes) - This is where to control the voice for readling content aloud. - If you think you may use this prompt again, make your you **Save As a Template**. (pink circle)

As you create your customizations, it will simultaneously show you a **Preview of What Students Will See** or the right side of the screen.

When you're satisfied with your custom prompt, click **"Next."**

Click **"Save."**

Click the **Launch Room** button to make it visible to students and get sharing options.

Choose from one of the sharing options below: - **Join URL**- good for making links in Canvas or an email when you have specific people you want to share it to - **Google Classroom**- integrate it into your GC this way with existing students - **QR Join Code**- good for displaying on a presentation or printing out when you want to give instant access to people "outside" of a system or class

If you choose do share via URL or QR, click **"Copy"** to get the URL or QR copied to your digital clipboard. Share away with your chosen method.

If you choose to share via Google Classroom, it will easily make a new assignment within your chosen class. Click the down arrow to see all of your Google Classrooms.

Choose the class where you want it to make the assignment.

Edit all of the assignment specifics. When you're satisfied, click **"Assign."** It will then be a viewable assignment in your Google Classroom. You will find it listed under the **Classwork Tab**.

In the future, you can access all **Student Rooms** by clicking **"Launch to Students."** This means that you can create rooms well before you need them. This is also where you can do the following (going from right to left across the screen): - Edit the Room Name - See the Tools Listed in the Room - Pause, Lock or Make Active Again (When you pause or lock it will disappear from the Active Tab and show up in the respectively named tab also on this page.) - See the Number of Active Students - Get a Notification of an Unread Message - Sort Based on the Last Edit Date

Click on the Skinny Snowman to **Edit**, **Duplicate**, **Delete** or **Share** the student room.
