Microsoft Word: Checking Accessibility

Once you finish creating a document in Word, utilize the Accessibility Checker to ensure the it meets UI COM's accessibility requirements. This short guide walks you through Word’s built-in Accessibility Checker and how to fix any issues before publishing.

Click "Review"

Click "Check Accessibility"

In the drop-down, click "Check Accessibility" again

Accessibility Assistant will appear to the right. Review all issues, and adjust as needed. Word will explain exactly what changes are required.

If you are publishing the document to a UIC or College of Medicine website, or putting it in Box for distribution, we recommend locking the document from editing.
