It simplifies the process of setting up farms and fields, drawing borders, and creating sampling jobs, ensuring accurate data collection. Navigate to [https://portal.fesoils.com/](https://portal.fesoils.com/)

Click "New Account"

Enter the required account information

Click "Submit" at the bottom left

Click "Order Supplies"

You can use the Supplies Calculator to determine how many sampling bags are needed for the job, just input the acres being sampled and the grid size into the text fields.

Fill out the "Ship To" information

Click "Checkout"

Click "Checkout" after confirming the billing details

Fill in the contact and payment information

Then, click pay

The next step is to setup your farm and fields To begin sampling, you must first name your Farms and Fields and define their boundaries. Drawing the field border not only serves as a visual reference but also enables FE Soils to calculate the field area automatically. Each field only needs to be drawn once and can be reused for sampling in future seasons. While the border drawing tool is optimized for use on the web-based headquarters, it is also accessible via the FE Soils mobile app. To get started, click the **Farms/Fields** tab

Click the "+" Icon

Click this text field, and add a Farm. This example will be named Demo Farm

Then, click "Submit"

Use the dropdown menu to select the farm just created Click "Demo Farm"

Click this text field, and enter the field name. This field will be called Demo 1

Click "Submit"

To add a border with a shapefile, click this cloud Icon. If you want to draw the border, please skip to step 20

Drag your border files into the pane on the right. Please note that only `.shp`, `.shx`, and `.dbf` file types are accepted. Before clicking **Submit**, make sure to remove the `.prj` file by clicking the "x" next to it.

Click "Submit"

Click the map Icon for the field just created. Then, skip to step 27.

Click the dropdown to choose the correct Farm and Field.

Click around the field to draw its border, placing points along the perimeter. Use the blue **Delete Last Point** button if you need to remove a point. Once complete, click on the first point to close and finalize the border.

Click the **Label** field and enter a name for the feature—this can be the same as the field name. You can create multiple features within the same field. To add additional features, save your current entry and repeat the process starting from Step 22.

Click "Save"

To create a sampling job, click "Jobs"

Make sure the season, farm, and field info is correct and then click "+add a job"

Use the dropdown to assign a sampler

Use the dropdown to choose "Ready to Sample" so the job shows up on the mobile app once synced.

Use the arrows to choose grid size, or click and type in the grid size, up to 9.9 ac grids.

This demo field will be a 5 acre grid

Click on the arrows to shift the grid around N, S, E, W

Use the arrows to rotate the grid, or use the slider on the right

Click "Submit" once finished setting the grid

Note the information displayed on the left—25 samples are required to complete this job. The field is now ready to be sampled. Use the FE Soils app to navigate the field and collect your samples. Follow the compass icon on your device to accurately locate each sampling point within the grid. As you move from point to point, log each sample in FE Soils using either the autogenerated sample numbers or your own custom numbering system. Be sure to write these numbers on the corresponding sample bags to maintain a clear and direct correlation between your physical samples and the digital sampling data.

Once all samples for the job have been collected and logged, you must **close the job** to finalize the data within FE Soils. Please note that once a job is closed, it can no longer be edited—so be sure to verify that all samples have been collected and securely stored before proceeding. At this stage, your data is still stored locally on your mobile device and will not be accessible from the FE Soils Web Headquarters until you perform a sync. To upload your data, return to the main screen and tap **Synchronize** once sampling is complete and the job is closed.

After the field has been sampled, click "Order Tests"

Select the checkbox for the field(s) that have been sampled.

Confirm the billing details, then click "Checkout" Check the box next to "Remember me" to save time for the next job

Enter the Payment Information

Click "Pay" when complete

To obtain a shipping sheet, click the "Map" tab

Click "Jobs"

Use the dropdowns to select the correct farm, field, and job.

Click the "Download" Icon

Example Shipping Sheet **Submitting Multiple Jobs & Managing Results:**\ You may send multiple sampling jobs in the same shipment, provided that the appropriate paperwork for each job is included in the box. **Managing Soil Sample Test Results:**\ Test results will be uploaded to your FE Soils account within 5–7 days after your samples are received by the lab. These results provide detailed information on nutrient levels and other key soil properties. Lab-generated comments offer insights and recommendations to support effective soil management. By combining your field knowledge with these lab insights, you can use the **Recommendation Engine** to develop nutrient prescriptions tailored for the upcoming growing season. Each job can have its own set of recommendations and comments specific to that field.
