Pearson Faculty Setup Guide

This document provides a step-by-step guide on setting up Pearson in Moodle, linking accounts, and managing eTextbook assignments.

Open your Moodle course. Turn **Edit mode** on and then select **Add an activity or resource** where you want to add Pearson.

Select **Pearson**.

Enter Access Pearson as the activity name for the new tool.

Select **Save and return to course**.

Select the Access Pearson link.

Select **Open Pearson**.

If prompted, link your instructor LMS and Pearson accounts. Enter the username and password from your existing Pearson instructor account and select **Link accounts**. If you don't have an account, select **Create an account** and follow the prompts. You can only link one LMS account to one Pearson account.

If this is your first time linking accounts with this LMS email address, we might create a new Pearson account for you. The username for the new account is your LMS email address. You just need to enter a password and select **Continue**.

Select **Pearson eTextbook** for your product.

To create or copy an eTextbook to link with your LMS course, choose an option. *Depending on your setup, you'll see different options.* If available, search the catalog for new course materials. Select the **Create a new course from the catalog** option at the bottom of the page. Enter a title, author, ISBN, discipline, or subject keyword. Then select .

Select the eTextbook you want from the catalog.

Choose **Select title**.

Copy an eTextbook you used in the past. Depending on your setup, the options may look different.

Enter a course ID to copy another instructor's course.

Complete the course details.

Students can no longer open the Pearson course on the course end date (Eastern Time, US). Set a date after the last re-take opportunity for the final exam.

Select whether to allow other instructors to copy your eTextbook using your course ID. You can change this setting later.

Select the settings (gear icon) on the eTextbook dashboard.

From the Access Pearson dashboard, select the menu (three stacked dots) and then **Course settings and roster**.

Select **Save**. You'll see eTextbook dashboard.

**Optional: Set up eTextbook assignments**

From your LMS course, select Access Pearson link. Select **Open Pearson** to access your eTextbook. This button could also be named Open eTextbook. Make sure assignments are set up in your eTextbook.

From your Moodle course, select **Turn editing on**.

Go to the area where you want to add links and select **Add an activity or resource**.

Choose **Select content**. You don't need to give the activity a name.

From the **Add links from** list, choose eText. Select a Chapter to see its associated links. Then scroll to see all the links or search for specific links. Choose a column heading to sort.

Select one or more links and repeat for any option in **Add links from**.

Select **Add links** on the bottom of the page.

Select **Save and return to course**.

You'll see the links in the area where you added them. Select a link and then **Open Pearson** to open the link in a new browser tab or window.
