How do I Update CAPE Activities for 2025 CPD

For your 2025 CPD, the New Zealand Medical Council and Medical Board of Australia have set requirements for CPD participants to display and maintain areas of Cultural Safety, Addressing Health Inequities, Professionalism and Ethical Practice. You do not need to report one activity per competency, but ensure that the requirements seen here are satisfied. Here you can see how the program requirement translates to our RACS competency's, this is how they are measured within the CPD program. As seen below, Cultural Competence and Cultural Safety need to be ticked for one activity, Health advocacy for one, and Professionalism for two, since it covers Professionalism and Ethical Practice. Let's go through some quick examples.

Here you can see the CPD category the activity goes into, the activity recorded, and the competncies that the user has ticked. This example shows how the CAPE requirements are met throughout multiple activities.

In this second example, you can see how CAPE has been met through only two activities, by listing multiple of the required competencies for one activity.

Let's see how this works on the CPD Dashboard. Here, we can see how all of our CAPE requirements are outstanding. There's multiple ways we can report CAPE, as seen in the previous examples.

Since our Audit is also outstanding, let's start with this.

Click 'Add Activity'.

Click the "Select activity" field, and a list of activities will appear. I've completed a total practice audit this year, so I'll click that one.

Select the "Audit" option. For other activities, multiple categories may show up, but for total practice audit, it can only fit into the audit category.

My total practice audit has been part of upholding professionalism in my practice, so I'll tick professionalism.

By completing audits, I'm assessing for possible health inequities, which translates to health advocacy, so I'll click that one.

Finally, my audit analyses the degree of cultural engagement and competence, and will highlight if any relevant issues arise, so I'll click the "Cultural competence and cultural safety" field.

The time taken to collect and assess my audit was around 10 hours, so that's what I'll report.

My audit was peer reviewed, so I'll click 'Yes' here.

Finally, click "Save".

Back on our Dashboard, we can see that Cultural Safety and Addressing Health Inequity are completed within our CAPE Compliance. Professionalism and Ethical Practice are currently in progress, as we have only reported one instance of Professionalism, so let's add another.

Click 'Add Activity'.

in 2025, my practice carried out a patient feedback survey, so I'll select that for my activity.

In the ' Select category' drop down, I'll select performance review of self.

Carrying out patient feedback surveys ensure recieving patient feedback, so we can improve where our patients may highligt needs not being met. This falls under ethical practice, so let's click Professionalism.

The preperation and review of the patient feedback survey took about 5 hours altogether, so that's what I'll type here

Next, I'll click 'Save'.

Finally, we are taken back to our CPD Dashboard and can see here that now all CAPE compliance requirements are complete. If any are still outstanding, try giving the page a second to load and refreshing the page by clicking the circle arrow in the top right of your screen. If not, try adding in some more education activities that tick CAPE competencies.
