Using JetConvert to Migrate a QBO File to Xero: Pre-conversion

This guide is essential for anyone looking to seamlessly migrate their QuickBooks Online (QBO) data to Xero using JetConvert. It provides a comprehensive pre-conversion checklist and detailed steps to ensure that your data is properly prepared, minimizing potential issues during the transfer.

Navigate to your QBOA Portal

Click "Team"

Add Jet Convert as a team member: - Name = Jet Convert - Email = [qbo@jetconvert.com](mailto:qbo@jetconvert.com) - Access = Company Admin

Click "Edit" next to their name

Click "Assign access" next to the client you wish to migrate

Click the drop down and select "Company Admin" *Jet Convert **MUST** have Company Admin access.*

Click "Save"

Click "Done"

Navigate to<https://jetconvert.com/us/> and click "Start Your Xero Conversion" in the upper right corner

Make sure the red text at the top says "Jet Convert creates your Xero Organisation transferred to you" if you would like Xero to create the initial Xero file for you (red arrow) *(If you already set up a Xero shell file for your client, click the **blue link** in the sentence below, "For Existing Organisations, **please select here**")*

Click "pre-conversion checklist" in Step 1 and make sure to read every article and follow every step to prepare your QBO file

Click "Data Preparation Quickbooks Online"

Pay very close attention to what (they) "WE DO NOT CONVERT:" *You will convert these components after JetConvert completes their migration*

Click "First conversion? Understand our conversion features." if this is your first conversion.

Click "Clients" and open your client's file, following the instructions in the pre-conversion page

In this example, I only need to disconnect the bank feed *(make sure you've coded anything in the bank feed first!)*

Click "Edit Chart of accounts"

Any Bank or Credit card account that has the icon below next to it under Account type is connected to a bank feed and needs to be disconnected.

Click this dropdown carat at the end of the bank account's row

Click "Edit"

Click the "Disconnect this account on save" field.

Click "Yes"

Click "Save"

Alert! We highly recommend pulling any and all reports you could possibly think of needing at this point out of QBO in the event you need to rebuild anything. Typically I pull the below in excel: - BS by year for at least 7 years - P&L by year for at least 7 years - Trial Balance year over year for 7 years - General Ledger with all columns selected for all dates - All open invoices (with coding showing) - All open bills (with coding showing) - Any other custom report you think you may need

Navigate back to the JetConvert page once the file is ready for migration. Skip to step 4 and click the "Online" radio button

Select the "Select country" option and click :United States"

Click "Load"

Complete all the fields requested. ***Please Note*** - Contact/Org/Contact Name and Phone is the person from your firm who is overseeing the migration. **Xero Subscription Email is the email address that is on your Xero Partner Portal** and may be different from your Contact Email.\*\*\*\*

Click "Submit"

Note your Conversion ID Number

Select which package and how much detailed history you'd like to include in the migration. *Xero subsidizes the cost of a migration plus current year + one previous year of detailed data. Additional years are at a discount based on Xero's subsidy.*

Once you select your package, **if you have not done so already**, MAKE SURE TO GIVE ACCOUNTANT/COMPANY ADMIN ACCESS to Jet Convert.

Check the contact email inbox for a confirmation. There will be a link to a status page to keep tabs on the migration (typically takes about 5 days). You can reply to this message to ask additional questions or get updates from JetConvert support. Once the migration is complete, the contact email will receive a fresh email stating the migration is complete with a link to post-conversion steps. **DO NOT SKIP** post-conversion steps. Reconnect bank feeds in Xero and any 3rd party apps that need to be included.
