About the Retiree Personal Health Plan

**The Retiree Personal Health Plan** is designed for individuals aged **50 and older** who are **retiring or preparing to retire** and will be **losing their group benefits coverage**. To be eligible, applicants must: - Be **age 50+** - Be **retiring and transitioning off group benefits** - **Apply and secure coverage within 90 days** of losing group benefits The plan offers flexible, modular options across three benefit areas: - **Health (includes embedded travel coverage)** - **Prescription Drugs** - **Dental (optional)** Each module includes **three levels of coverage**. Health and drug coverage are **mandatory**, while dental is **optional**. This flexibility allows individuals to **tailor their coverage** to suit their unique needs, lifestyle, and budget. *Applicants must be residents of Saskatchewan and hold valid Saskatchewan Health coverage.*

Getting started

Before getting started, please confirm that all applicants have provincial health coverage and currently have, or have applied for, a Saskatchewan Health Services Card. Click **"Yes"** to confirm and proceed.

To start a new Retiree plan application, click **"New Policy"** to begin the application process.

Click **"Yes"** to indicate that the member has lost group benefits coverage or is transitioning from a Personal Health Plan previously held with another Blue Cross.

Click the **"YYYY-MM-DD"** field and select the **previous coverage end date.**

Confirm the customer has retired within the last **90 days** or will be retiring soon.\ \ **Note:** *The Retiree Plan must be **applied for and coverage secured** within **90 days** of transitioning from group benefits—**no exceptions.***

To apply for a Retiree Personal Health Plan, 1. Enter the applicant’s date of birth. ***Note:*** *This may differ from the policyholder age* 2. The applicant (retiree) must be **at least 50 years old** to apply for Retiree Plan coverage. If they are under age 50, the Retiree Plan will **not** appear as an option. 3. Click **"Health Insurance Plan Comparison"** to review a side-by-side comparison of the available Personal Health Plans.\ \ Select **"Retiree"** then **"Get Started"** to proceed.

Your previous coverage

In the Plan Details section, 1. Enter your previous plan information, including: - Previous insurer - Policy number - Group/Certificate number - Employer name 2. Then, indicate the desired **start date** for the Retiree Plan coverage.\ \ Click "**Continue".**

Tell us about you

Fill out the required fields for the retiree applying for coverage. **Note:** *This individual (retiree) will become the Policyholder.*

How did the applicant hear about Saskatchewan Blue Cross? Let us know by selecting from the drop-down menu. If the applicant has a promo code, type it in in the **'Referral code'** field. Click **"Continue"**

Who else needs coverage?

Click **'Yes'** to add a Partner to the application.\ \ **Partner:** The partner of the Policyholder by marriage or a cohabitated common-law relationship. Sometimes referred to as a Spouse.

Complete the required fields for the Partner and click **'Save Partner'**.

If a dependent requires coverage, select **"Yes"** and complete the required fields for each dependent. Click the grey **"?"** icon to review eligibility criteria for dependents. When finished, click **"Continue"** to proceed.

Review and select coverage

Review the applicant(s) information. Scroll down to **Coverage options**, below.

Click the **"View coverage options"** dropdown to see a detailed, side-by-side comparison of the available coverages in each Retiree Plan module.

Scroll down to **Select Coverage**. The Retiree Plan includes: 1. A **mandatory Core Health and VIP Travel** module 2. A **mandatory Prescription Drug** module 3. An **optional Dental** module, designed to help retirees maintain eligibility for the Canadian Dental Care Program (CDP), if they choose to include it Select the benefit modules the customer wishes to include.\ \ **Note:** If the customer opts **out** of dental coverage, ensure the **Dental** box is **not** checked.

Click **"Continue"**.\ \ Before proceeding with the application, review the selected coverage to ensure it meets the applicant’s needs. This step also generates important information and outlines any policy limitations that apply. To make changes, click **"Change selections"**. When ready, click **"Continue"** to proceed.

Coordination of Benefits (COB) Details

If any individuals included on the application — including the **policyholder, partner, or dependents** — have **other active health or insurance coverage** (e.g., a Personal Health Plan, employer/group benefits, student coverage, or any other plan): 1. **Select “Yes”** under *Do you have other insurance coverage?* 2. **Click Continue** to proceed. If **no individuals** on the application have other coverage, select **“No”** to proceed.

When you select **“Yes”** to indicate other insurance coverage, a form will generate on screen. 1. **Complete all required fields** using the details from the *employee policyholder’s* insurance plan. 2. **Indicate the type of coverage** included under the other insurance plan. - Select all applicable benefit categories. 3. If any benefits are *not listed* or require clarification, **add them in the Additional Information field** at the bottom of the form. Once all information is entered, **click Save** to continue.

After you save the COB details, the information will be added to the application. 1. If dependents are covered under the other insurance plan, select **Add Dependents** to include them on the COB record. - *Note:* Each COB record allows a maximum of **30 dependents**. This limit is intentionally high to prevent errors for applicants with large families. 2. If the applicant has more than one additional insurance policy, select **Add Another Insurance Plan** to create another COB record. - *Note:* Each application can include up to **20 COB records**. This limit is also intentionally high to avoid processing issues for complex cases. When all COB details have been added, click **Continue** to move to the next step of the application.

Agreement and Consent

Review the agreement and consent, in full, with the customer.\ \ Click **'No, I am completing the application on behalf of the applicant (e.g. Brokers, Friends, Family Members)'** and complete the required fields.\ \ Select the **'Check box'** to confirm you and the applicant have read and understand the entire application, agree to the Agreement and Consent and confirm that all questions, for all applicates, are answered to the best of each individual's knowledge and consent. Click **'Continue'**

Confirmation and Next Steps

After completing the Agreement and Consent, a payment screen will generate. Applicants have **3** options: 1. Set-up **Pre-Authorization for monthly premium withdrawals** from a debit account. Depending on the selected policy start date, a "catch-up payment" may be required. After selecting **"MONTHLY PLAYMENTS"** and clicking **"SECURE MY COVERAGE"**, applicants will: - Be prompted to input their credit card information for any "catch-up payment" - Input their banking details for pre-authorized monthly premium withdrawals - Indicate whether they would like their claims reimbursement deposited into the same debit account or provide information for reimbursement to a different debit account. 2. Pay the **Annual Premium** in full using a credit card. 3. Alternatively, applicants can choose to have **a representative from our office contact them to arrange premium payment** at a later time.

Congratulations! The Retiree plan application has successfully been submitted to our office!\ \ **What's next?** **Monthly/Annual Premium Payment Selected:** If the applicant chooses monthly or annual premium payments, they will receive a confirmation email along with their policybooklet via email. Once the policy is activated by our sales team, they will send a confirmation along with an onboarding package that includes member cards and plan details. **Contact and Pay Later Selected:** If the applicant chooses to be contacted for payment, a representative from our office will reach out to arrange the premium payment and provide the necessary policy information. Additionally, the applicant can explore Life and Critical Illness solutions, request a quote, or access our health empowerment resources to enhance their health literacy.
