Create A Permit

This guide shows how to correctly create and validate a Permit to work in HammerTech. It ensures you select the right permit type, employer, SWMS and zone, document hazards and controls, and specify equipment, PPE and emergency measures. It also details required Permit Issuer actions and signatures (fire watcher, permit holder, supervisor). This permit sees the approval of the permit. This is looking at a Hot Works Permit. Contents may vary from permit to permit.

Click "Permits" in the sidebar menu. Select "Create New".

Select the **Permit Type** from the dropdown.

Select the **Employer.** This may be a subcontractor company or BMD.

Select the applicable SWMS for the permit related to the subcontractor selected. This is a guide to ensure correct document have been received for these workers to be completed.

Select the Permit Zone. Select View Diagram to see the detail of the zones.

Enter the *Description of Work Activity* that the permit is being issued for.

Complete the *Hazard Identification* section of the permit.

Complete the form of the permit. For the *Hot Works Permit:* Complete the Welding Equipment section of the permit. \ Select the relevant *PPE* that is applicable under the permit for the works.\ Check the *Fire Fighting and Emergency* equipment checkbox's that are relevant to the works.

The **Permit Issuer** is to Complete the initial General Permit Requirements checks.

Permit Sign off Signatures

The **Permit Issuer** is to capture the required sign offs. Navigate to the PERMIT DECLARATIONS section.

**Permit Issuer** to collect the *Fire Watcher's* signature and name.

**Permit Issuer** to collect the Acknowledgment and signature of the *Permit Holder.*

**Permit Issuer** to tick the acknowledgement box and sign under the BMD Direct Supervisor section of the permit.

Enter the permit validity period. Set the Permit Start and Finish times. If you try to exceed the length the permit can be issued in accordance with BMD Standards, an alert will be shown to adjust the dates.

Click "Create". When within the permit Times, this permit is ready to follow the **START WORKS** steps. The Start Works section of the permit needs to be completed, to allow workers to sign onto the permit.

Under Permits in the sidebar Menu and View all you can see the permit Register. Th This permit is sitting in the **Start Work** stage. The Permit must be started and workers must sign onto the permit before physical works can begin.
