The Course Match platform currently **requires students to add at least 2x the number of credits** they are targeting for their final schedule. For example, if you want to take **15 elective credits**, you must add **at least 30 credits worth of courses** before proceeding. We required aiming for **2x–4x your target credits** for the best results. Students are also **highly recommended to set their credit bids in 1.5-credit increments**. While it is possible to "hack" the 2x requirement by selecting multiple sections of the same course—since each section counts towards the total—**this will put you at a disadvantage!** Course Match treats duplicate course selections as lower-priority preferences, reducing your chances of securing a well-balanced schedule. To optimize your results, be sure to **add a variety of unique courses** to maximize your enrollment opportunities.

### **Rank Your Courses into Four Categories** After selecting your courses, organize them into **four ranking categories**: 1. **Favorite** – You can **only place one course here**, and you **do not have to use it**. If you do, this should be your top choice, significantly above all others. Keep in mind that placing a course in Favorite consumes a large portion of your budget — meaning there is a chance you may not receive a full schedule for your remaining selections. Only use Favorite if you are truly willing to make that trade-off. 2. **Great** – Add as many courses as you like. These are your strong preferences but slightly less important than your Favorite. 3. **Good** – Courses you'd like to take but are not as high-priority as Great. 4. **Acceptable** – Courses you are willing to take but are lower in preference.

### **Understand How Rankings Impact Your Schedule** - The difference between **one category to the next is large**, meaning a course in **Favorite** has much higher priority than those in **Great**. - Courses ranked **within the same category** have only small differences in priority. - If you **strongly** prefer one course over others, put it in **Favorite**, but be mindful that it might limit your ability to get any of your Great choices.

### **Finalize and Review** - **Drag and drop courses** into the appropriate category based on your priorities. - Ensure your rankings reflect **how much you truly value each course**, as Course Match assigns **utility scores** based on these buckets. - Once satisfied, **proceed to the next step.**

Once you have ranked your courses, click on **"Review Schedules"** to see the possible course schedules generated based on your rankings. Take the time to carefully check your schedule to ensure it aligns with your preferences and availability. - If needed, go back and adjust your rankings to improve your chances of securing your preferred courses. - Make sure there are no conflicts and that your selected courses meet your credit requirements. You can return and make changes at any time **until the deadline** — your most recent submission is always the one used. When you are satisfied with your schedule, click on **"Confirm"** to finalize your selections. Once confirmed, your rankings are submitted, and Course Match will generate your final schedule based on availability and demand. **We recommend avoiding any changes in the last 24 hours before the deadline.** This gives you time to review your submission and address anything unexpected before Course Match closes.
