Accessing and completing progression reports (PAT & NAPLAN)

This guide provides essential insights into accessing and interpreting progression reports for PAT and NAPLAN, making it invaluable for educators and administrators. It outlines how to effectively navigate the system, set parameters for data comparison, and understand key metrics like Effect Size and Value Add.

Navigate to "**Progression**"

Select all **Progression** parameters as necessary\ \ Once everything is set to your liking, click "**View Progression**"

**School Year** sets the perspective, if you choose School Year = 2024 then Year Level = Year 4, you will be viewing students who were in Year 4 in 2024.\ \ **Starting Year** and **End Year** defines the years progression will be shown for.

Selecting "**View Progression**" will not proceed if there is not at least two sets of data within a year between the data being compared, e.g. 2024- 2025 data

The parameters set will now display the **Progression** graph with the cohort's progression shown within the date range set

Under the graph are some statistics, in regards to what they mean:\ For "**Effect Size**" above average is **>0.4** \ (**0.4** roughly being a year of progress, **0.2** being 6 months, and **0.1** being 3 months)\ For "**Value Add**" above average is **>0** (and separate to "**Effect Size**")

At the bottom of the page, individual student progress is shown with the customised parameters selected, either being for the **Cohort**, **Classroom** or **Student**

"**Score Progression**" indicates the score difference for the student over the years\ \ "**Value Add**" indicates student progression in comparison to the national mean over the listed period of time.
