Create an Assignment in Blackboard

This guide quickly shows instructors how to add a properly titled, instruction-rich assignment in Blackboard Ultra, whether starting from an empty course or adding into existing content.

Navigate to <https://blackboard.wichita.edu> and then to your course.

In a blank Ultra course, select "Add Content."

In a course with existing content, select the plus sign where you want the assignment.

From the dropdown menu, select "Create."

In the Create panel, scroll down to Assessment and select "Assignment"

Enter a descriptive title. This is what the students will see and select to view the item. If you do not enter a title, it will default to "New Assignment" or "New Test" and the date it was created. You can edit the title at any time by selecting the edit pencil next to the item name.

Select the box to open the text editor. Add assignment instructions, including images, links, and uploaded files. When you are finished, select "Save."
