Enabling Nectir AI in Your Canvas Course

This guide outlines the process for enabling Nectir AI in a Canvas course; allowing Instructors to create a personalized AI assistant tailored to your students' needs. By following the steps, you can successfully enable the tool in your course.

Access Your Canvas Course

Navigate to your course in [Canvas](https://smccd.instructure.com/)

From the left side course navigation menu, select "**Settings**"

Access Navigation Settings

Select the "**Navigation**" tab

Find "**Nectir AI**" and select the three vertical dots directly to the right of it.

Enable Nectir AI

Select "**Enable**" from the drop down menu.

\[Optional\] Use the dots to the left of "Nectir AI" to drag & drop the tool to your desired position on the course menu.

Canvas will automatically move Nectir AI into the enabled section. Select "**Save**" to apply changes.

Select the **"Nectir AI"** hyperlink to access the tool.

The Assistant itself has now been created for your course. At this point, the assistant isn't trained on your course material yet.
