Merge Scribe Steps

Merge steps to help your audience with a short animation rather than a sequence of separate steps. Merge steps in your Scribe using Magic Merge, or by selecting the steps you choose. Undo or split steps back out at any time.

Open your Scribe and click "Edit"

Use Magic Merge

Magic Merge identifies similar successive steps in your guide and consolidates them into a short animation that's easy for your audience to follow.

Click the [[Customize]] button.\ Click "Merge similar steps"

Click "Merge"

Check out your merged steps! *In this example, three separate steps (text and images) are consolidated to a single animation.*

Undo Magic Merge

Click the [[Customize]] button. Click "Un-merge similar steps"

Merged steps have sucessfully been undone!

Manually Combine Steps

You've got full control over what you'd like to merge/combine (or not!). Any combination of adjacent steps can be combined.

Click the checkbox to select a step to combine. Click this checkbox on any number of additional adjacent steps (they do have to be next to each other!)

Click the [[Combine Steps]] button.

Check out your combined steps! *In this example, two separate steps (text and images) are consolidated to a single animation.*

Undo Combined Steps

Click the [[...]] icon on the combined steps. Click "Split Combined Steps"

Click "Split steps". Your steps will now be split back into individual steps!

Make all edits to images before using Magic Merge or manually combining. Once you merge/combine, you are unable to edit images without splitting them first.

Exported Scribes will automatically split any merged/combined steps.
