PowerProtect One - Navigating Features

This lesson will highlight core features available in the user interface which include Dashboard, Health, Infrastructure, Protection, Restore, Alerts, Administrations and Reports.

Dashboard

Displays a summary of the key features of PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance

Health

Displays health score, to help proactively monitor Components, Configuration, Capacity, Performance and Data Protection

Protection

Click "Protection"

Click "Protection Policies" From the "Protection" Menu you can perform the following tasks: Create protection policies to backup all supported workloads. Create and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs). You use the SLOs to verify that your protected assets are meeting your Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Add, edit, delete Protection Rules to automatically assign newly discovered assets to existing protection policies.

Restore

Click "Restore"

Use the Restore tab to perform the following tasks: View the protect Copies Perform Centralized recovery for Virtual Machines, Filesystem,Kubernetes & Storage Groups Perform granular file level restores for Filesystem & Virtual Machines. Provide instant access of virtual machines directly from the Protection Storage.

Alerts

Click "Alerts"

Use the Alerts tab to perform the following tasks: View and acknowledge alerts and events View and drill down audit Logs Export audit logs to CSV files Set audit log boundaries

Administration

Use the Administration tab to perform the following tasks: Configure and manage PowerProtect users Define user roles Set password credentials and manage key chains Setup alert notifications Add LDAP Identity Sources

Anomaly Detection

Click on "Anomaly Detection" to view Anomalies detected and further processing.

Jobs

Click "Jobs"

We will use the Jobs tab to monitor the status of activities such as backup and recovery jobs and various maintenance activities.\ The System jobs tab would be used to monitor the system specific jobs like discovery , PLC creation etc.\ In addition to Protection and System jobs tab we have "Asset Jobs" introduced in this release which will display the jobs/tasks Asset wise.

Reports

Expand "Reports ". Click on "Report Browser" to view the various pre-configured options.

Infrastructure

The Infrastructure tab is where we can perform the following tasks: Enable/Disable Asset Sources by type. Add vCenter, Kubernetes Cluster and application host asset sources Review and perform maintenance tasks on Protection Storage. Add a vProxy protection engine for virtual machine data protection. Review pre-deployed Search nodes. Manage registration of Oracle, Exchange, SAP HANA and SQL application agents. View existing copies of SQL databases, Exchange Databases ,Oracle databases, Filesystem, SAP HANA, Kubernetes namespace and Virtual Machines.

Click "Infrastructure"

Click "Asset Sources"

Click here.

Infrastructure: Add New Asset Sources

Click "New Asset Source " and review the list of asset types supported.

Infrastructure: Storage

Click "Summary" Note: This is a virtual system and hence other storage fields may not populate data. It will be different on a physical host.

Infrustructure: Search Engine

Click "Search Engine"

Click "Configure Search Settings"

Review settings and Click "Cancel"
