Santa: How to document your gifting

When Santas notify the requester and/or mods about a gift they're sending, it helps things run smoother.

The best time to notify requesters/mods of a purchase is right after you've made it since Amazon will tell you the expected arrival date. It is best practice to copy that information and submit it as a comment on the post of the requester you purchased for.\ \ This ensures requesters know to watch their mail and helps mods keep track of who is being gifted so we can ensure families still in need stay at the top of our minds. If there is an issue with the delivery, it also lets mods know who to contact.\ \ Read along below for how to notify the requester and the mods.

To notify the requester, click on the request post from which you purchased an item.

Click in the comment box and type what items was purchased, for which child, and what the expected arrival date is. You may also include the order number if you'd like, but many find this to be a cumbersome practice, especially on mobile. It is not required.

Click "Comment."\ \ The requester should reply to your comment once they've received it so you know it arrived.

The mods do our best to scrape the sub to keep track of who is being gifted, but it helps us out a lot if Santas complete a Santa report, too. The Santa report can be completed for up to 5 users at a time so a Santa does not have to fill out multiple reports for each child or user. Below is information on completing a Santa report if needed.

Enter your username as the Santa, then click next.

Enter the reddit username for whom you purchased.

For that user only, enter all the gifts you bought and for which kids.

Choose whether or not this was an offer win. (Meaning you posted an offer with rules and a deadline and selected one or more users. If you purchased from a requester's wishlist, the answer is no).

Add any additional information you would like the mods to have. This is not required.

If you purchased gifts or have offer wins for another reddit user, click yes. If you have no more users to report, click no. Then, click next.

Click "Submit"
