Before You Begin a Proposal

Before creating or modifying a program:

  • Search CIM to confirm you are working with the correct program record.

  • Review the existing program information and requirements before proposing changes.

  • Review the program's Ecosystem, when applicable, to identify courses, programs, or other curriculum that may be affected by your proposal.

  • Use Save Changes if you need to leave the proposal and return to complete it later.

  • Select Start Workflow only when the proposal is complete and ready to enter the formal approval process.

Important: Saving a proposal does not submit it for approval. The proposal enters the approval process when Start Workflow is selected.

Searching, Viewing, and Printing Program Records

Search for a Program

Use CIM's search tools to locate existing programs and proposals.

Programs can be searched using criteria such as:

  1. Program Code
Enter a program code to locate a specific program.

  2. Keyword
Enter a word from the program title to find programs containing that term.

  3. Wildcard Search
Use an asterisk (*) with a keyword to broaden your search. For example, *business* will return programs containing "business" in the searchable program information.

  4. Workflow Step
Enter a workflow step to find proposals currently at that step in the approval process.

  5. Status
Enter a status, such as edited, to find program records with that status.

View a Program Record

Select a program from the search results to open its curriculum record.

Depending on the status of the program, the record may display:

  • Current approved program information

  • Program requirements

  • Proposed curriculum changes

  • Red/green markup identifying proposed changes

  • Current workflow information

  • Curriculum relationships

  • Proposal history

If a proposal is currently in workflow, CIM will display its current location in the approval process.

Print a Program Proposal

To print or save a copy of a program proposal:

  1. Open the program record in CIM.

  2. Use your browser's Print function.

  3. Select your printer or choose Save as PDF, if available.

Keyboard shortcuts:

  • Windows: Ctrl + P

  • Mac: Command + P

Understanding Proposal Changes

When an existing program is being modified, CIM uses red/green markup to identify differences between the existing and proposed curriculum.

  • Red indicates information being removed or replaced.

  • Green indicates new or proposed information.

This allows reviewers to quickly identify what is changing within the program proposal.

Understanding Workflow

After Start Workflow is selected, the program proposal enters the College's curriculum approval process.

CIM automatically routes the proposal through the required review and approval steps.

The current workflow step identifies where the proposal is currently located in the approval process.

Approving a proposal at one workflow step does not necessarily mean the program is fully approved. Additional approvals may still be required.
