How to Configure a Garner HRA

Learn how to accurately set up your Garner HRA (+ HSA when needed) in ALEX Builder. With a Garner HRA configured, ALEX will be able to educate employees about using Garner approved top providers in order to receive Garner HRA funds towards medical expenses. When a Garner HRA plan also includes an HSA, ALEX will be able to educate how the HRA and HSA work together.

Myalex

Navigate to [ALEX Builder](https://builder.myalex.com) and open the configuration that needs a Garner HRA set up.

Click "Insurance"

Click "Medical"

Click "HSAs and HRAs"

Click "add new"

Click “do not want” to open a new field to "nickname" this account. The "nickname" only appears in ALEX Builder to help you keep accounts straight.

Type a nickname into the new "nickname" field that appears. You'll likely want the nickname to be "Garner HRA".

Select "HRA" from the "healthfund type" drop-down.

Click “is not” to change toggle to "Reimbursement **is** limited to expenses from select providers (Garner HRA)"

Leave the below toggle set as "This account **may** be used alongside an HSA once the minimum deductible is satisfied."

These two toggles (Steps 9 and 10) are what enables the Garner content in ALEX.

After setting up and configuring the rest of the details for the Garner HRA, you'll need to attach it to eligible medical plans.

Click "Medical Plans"

Click on an eligible medical plan along the menu.

Click "Tax Advantaged Accounts"

Click “does not” to change toggle to "This plan **does** have an HSA or HRA."

Click "Select Items..." to open the drop-down.

Select the Garner HRA to attach it to the plan.

If the plan uses both the Garner HRA and an HSA, select both from the drop-down to attach both accounts to the plan.\ \ You can use the "check all" option to attach both at once if they are the only accounts.

Note: A medical plan can only have an HRA and HSA attached to it when the HRA is Garner.

That's it! ALEX will now be able to educate employees about how Garner HRAs work and work with HSAs (when applicable).
