Key Terms & Definitions

Before we dive in, some key terms and definitions to help us get aligned!

- **"Course"** = A course in LearnUpon means a workshop topic, offered in a live or self-paced format - "**Live learning**" = Is a real-time session, either virtual or in-person. In LearnUpon, it's organized under the course.

- "**Enroll**" = To enroll in a course/workshop topic - "**Register**" = To sign up for a live learning session. To help remember the difference, registration means the same thing as confirming attendance This will be important as you get connected to different course topics. For courses with live learning, you'll need to first enroll int he course and then **register** for the individual live learning session. Don't worry, though! We'll walk through it together in our example!

Learner Portal: The dashboard navigation menu

**Let's start by exploring the dashboard navigation menu!** The "**Home**" page will show you an overview of courses you're enrolled in, as well as a personalized calendar view on the right of the "live learning" sessions you've registered for.

The "**My learning**" page will show **all** **courses you're enrolled in, both live learning & self-paced.** These will include your completed, in progress, and not yet started courses. You can also use **Filters** to see what you’ve completed and what’s upcoming. If you're just getting started, there won't be much here, but it'll grow over time.

The "Live learning" page will provide a universal list of **all live learning sessions, both virtual and in person, organized by date.** To see all courses, both live and self-paced, let's browse the Catalog!

The "**Catalog**" page is where you can browse **all** **courses**. From here, you can learn more about featured offerings before you **enroll** in the topic that interest you!

If you click the "**All live sessions**" button, it will take you back to the "**Live learning**" page.

The Catalog "**Filters**" button can help narrow down course options, as well as the "**Search**" bar. All course titles and descriptions are able to be searched, helping you find topics and content with ease.

Signing Up for a Course

**Let's practice signing up for a course from the "Catalog" page**. We'll use "Boost Your Credit Score" as our example.

a cartoon of a boy playing a piano with the words practice makes perfect

**KEY TERM: "Course topic page"** Under the "Catalog" page view, courses are listed as topics with unique pages. If you click into one, you'll see the course topic page where you'll find 1) the full course description and when applicable, 2) the live learning sessions schedule.

Hover over the course page to expand it at a glance. You can then click into the page or click "**View content details**"

Scroll down and navigate to the "**Course details**" tab within the page. Here you'll find the full description and outline of the course. Read through it to make sure it's a good fit for you!

When applicable, under the "**Live learning**" tab, you'll find the course's live session schedule, organized by date.

To enroll in a course, scroll back up and click "**Enroll**." - **For self-paced courses**, this will add the course to your workshop collection and give immediate access to the course content - When prompted, click "**Start now**" to launch the course - **For live learning courses**, a pop-up will appear, directing you to register for the live learning session

On the pop-up, the "**View sessions**" button will jump you down to the "Live learning" tab, prompting you to *register* for a live learning session. The "**Skip**" button will allow you to *enroll* in the course, but will create an orange box as a reminder to *register* for a live learning session. See the next image.

This view shows what the **course page** will look like if you're ***enrolled*** in a workshop, but ***not registered*** for a live learning session. **A reminder that for courses with live learning, registration = confirming attendance!**

Go ahead and click "**View Sessions**" to access the "Live learning" tab and register. Click "**Register and enroll**" to confirm attendance for the session of your choice! **Please note that you're only able to register for one session at a time per course.**

A **green confirmation box** will appear in the bottom right "You have successfully registered to the session." A **confirmation email** will also be sent to your email address. If the session is a webinar offered virtually, **it will include the Zoom link.**

For **self-paced workshops**, the process is even easier! From the "Catalog" page, you just needs to pick their workshop topic, click "**Enroll**," and then "**Start now**" when prompted.

**KEY TERMS REMINDER:\ "Enroll" in a course vs. "Register" for a live learning session** - **To Enroll:** Enrolling in a course will **add the topic to your course collection** so you’re able to access the content quickly and easily! This makes the course visible on you *Home* page, *My learning* page, etc. but for live learning, it will **NOT** automatically register you for a session. - **For self-paced courses**, once you "enroll," you can start the course content immediately. - **For live learning,** in addition to enrolling, you will also need to **register** for a live learning session. Remember: Registering = confirming attendance for live learning!

- **To Register:** Registering is the term used to sign up for the live learning sessions. - When you register, you're also then automatically *enrolled* in the course, adding the topic to the course collection.

**Now you're all set!** Let's see what this looks like on your "**Home**" page.

Let's keep going!

Navigate to the "Home" page. You'll see the course under the "**Learning not started**" or "**Learning in progress**" section. **The live learning session you're registered for is also now visible with the gray bar added beneath the course.**

Additionally, the live learning sessions you are **registered for are also now visible on the calendar** on the right side of the "Home" page. Dates of confirmed sessions will be marked with a purple dot. The calendar's "**View all**" button will redirect you to the "**Live learning**" page where you can see all upcoming live sessions + the sessions you've registered for.

If you're **enrolled** in a course with live learning, but haven't **yet registered for a session**, an orange header banner will appear, as well as an orange banner beneath the course. **Reminder: Registering = confirming attendance for live learning!**

Confirmed workshop enrollments & registered sessions are also available on the "**My learning**" page and the "**Live learning**" page of the dashboard navigation menu.

How to Cancel Attending a Session & Unenroll from a Course Topic

**Change of plans or priorities? No sweat!** This section will help you navigate how to cancel your attendance from a live learning session and also how to unenroll from a course altogether.

There are two options to opt out: \ **Option 1. Cancel your registration for a specific live learning session:** This will remove your attendance from a specific live learning session, but it ***will***\* **keep you enrolled**\* in the course so you can easily register again for a session that better fits your schedule. - Option 1 is recommended if you're still interested in the course topic and want to possibly engage it in the future **Option 2. Unenroll from the whole course:** This will take the course out of your collection altogether and will remove the prompt to register for a new session. - Option 2 is best if you're not interested in the course topic overall

**To cancel a session registration**, click into the course page.

Find the registration you want to cancel and click "**Cancel registration**"

Confirm your canceled registration in the dialog box by clicking "**Yes**"

You can also find the session under "**Live learning**" and click "Cancel registration"

REMINDER: Canceling a registration will remove your attendance from the session, but it **will keep you enrolled in the course!**

**To unenroll from a course altogether**, locate the course topic page in the **Catalog** and click into it.

Click "Unenroll" and confirm your action in the pop-up dialog.

**A green confirmation box will appear in the bottom right**: "Success: You have successfully unenrolled user from this course"

To confirm that you're fully unenrolled, navigate to the "Home" page. If you don't see the course, you've successfully unenrolled!

Taking the "Start Here" Course

Click back to the "**Home**" page on the dashboard navigation menu. **As you'll see, all Fresh Start users are automatically enrolled in "START HERE: Welcome to our new workshop portal, LearnUpon"** This course is intended to help orient you on the new platform while also engaging it! **Let's take it together. Click onto the workshop topic to enter the workshop page.** Some of the information will be repetitive, but still valuable as we learn this new portal.

Click "**Start now**" to launch the course.

Navigate through the course modules using the sidebar or the 'Next module' button. **Please review the information carefully by scrolling down within each module.**

Click the 'Exit' icon in the top left corner to leave the course once you have completed it. Once completed, it will be available on your "**My learning**" page. You can revisit it at any time.
