Adding Discounts to Customers and Jobs

In this tutorial you will see how to create and apply a discount to a job and a customer in Squeegee.

Adding a Discount

To add a discount, click 'Discounts' from the bottom of the sidebar.

At the top, you will be able to filter between existing **active**, **archived** and **all** discounts. You can also search for a specific discount using the search field.

To add a new discount, click 'Add Discount'. You will then be able to add the discount name in the first field.

Then, enter the amount in the 'Discount Amount' field - you can also use the up/down buttons to change the amount.

Finally, you can use the drop down menu to switch between **percentage** or **fixed** amount. Ensure to click 'SAVE' to save the discount.

Editing an Existing Discount

To edit a discount, simply head to the Discounts section and adjust your required fields accordingly before clicking 'SAVE'.

Discount Inheritence

Please note that **only one discount** will be applied **per invoice line item**. If multiple discounts exist, the one found last in the below list. - Customer - Job - Appointment There is also an option to select 'None' which will prevent a discount from being inherited from a parent entity. When creating invoices manually, an optional additional discount may be applied to the whole invoice.

Adding a Discount to a Customer

To add a discount to a customer, click into the customer and use the top right three dots to 'Edit Customer'. You can also do this on new customers when adding them.

Then, you can scroll to the bottom to 'Customer Discount'.

From here, you can either 'ADD DISCOUNT' which will allow you to create a **new** discount to add to the customer, rather than adding from existing discounts.

If you want to choose from an existing discount, simply click onto the discount you want to add.

Finally, click 'DONE' before clicking 'SAVE' on the customer to save your changes.

You will be able to see if a customer has a discount by clicking into the customer and viewing if they have this tag item with the discount name next to it.

Adding a Discount to a Job

If you want to add a discount to a **job**, click into the customer and use the three dots on the job to 'Edit Job'.

Scroll to the bottom to 'Job Discount'. If you have any inherited discounts, these will show here.

Again, you will have the option to add a new discount or you can choose from existing discounts, no discount or just defaulting to the inherited discount from the customer if added.

Finally, click 'DONE' and then 'SAVE' on the job.

Again, you will be able to view if a discount has been applied by viewing this tag on the job.

Adding a Discount to an Appointment

If you just want to add the discount to a singular appointment, rather than the whole job, you can click into the appointment and then scroll down to 'Discount'.

As before, either add a new discount, choose to select an inherited one, no discount, or choose from existing discounts. Ensure to click 'DONE' to save the changes.

Deleting a Discount

You can *archive* a discount by heading back to the **Discounts** tab. Simply enable the 'Archived' toggle to archive the discount. Please note that archived discounts are hidden from future discount pickers but still apply anywhere they remain assigned. Click 'SAVE' to save this.

If the discount is still assigned directly to existing records, archiving will hide it from future pickers, but it can keep applying anywhere it stays assigned. You will therefore have the option to: - ARCHIVE AND LEAVE IN PLACE (leave those assignments in place) - ARCHIVE AND REMOVE (remove the discount from all directly assigned customers, jobs and not done appointments)

Please note that the discount will be applied **after** job completion and can be viewed as a line item on the issued invoice.
