Create a New Message Template in DelightChat

Delightchat

From the left-hand navigation bar, go to "Marketing"

Click "Message Templates"

Click "Create Message Template"

Give your message template a name so it's easy to identify later.

Choose the Template Category

***Marketing*** - Used for **promotions, offers, product updates, reminders, announcements**, or anything meant to **drive sales or engagement**. ***Utility -*** Used for **transactional or essential information** needed for the customer’s order or account. (Order confirmations, Shipping updates, Appointment reminders.)

Let's go with *Marketing* as we want to create a template for a promotional broadcast.

Choose the Template Language

Click *English*, since for this example we want the template content in English and not in any other language.

Choose the Template Type as "Standard message template"

Then choose *Header*. If you’re planning to send a message with an image attached, select *Image*.

Now, in the message body here, add the actual message you’d like to send.

Insert variables in places where customer-specific information, like name or order details, should appear. Click 'Add Variable'

Use the Footer to add extra notes or fixed information like disclaimers, terms, support details, or important clarifications. For example, ‘*This offer is valid for 24 hours*’ or ‘*Reply STOP to unsubscribe*'.

Then choose the type of button you want to use in the message template. For now, let’s go with a CTA button.

***CTA (Call-to-Action) Button*** - Opens a link or triggers an action like calling a phone number or visiting a webpage. ***Quick Reply button*** - Lets the customer respond instantly with a predefined reply, which you can use to trigger automation or workflows.

Then choose whether the CTA button should open a link (website) or call a phone number.

Then provide a CTA button text - the label shown on the button that tells the user what action to take, such as *Shop Now* or *Call Us*.

Just type *Shop Now* for this example

Click "Apply for template"

Your template has now been submitted to Meta for approval and will show as *Pending* until it is in review.

Templates are usually approved or rejected within 5 minutes. However, sometimes Meta may take longer if a manual review is required. In such cases, approval or rejection can take between 24–48 hours.

After approval, the template becomes usable in WhatsApp broadcasts or automations within roughly 15 minutes.
