Showit Accessibility: Focus Order

This guide provides essential steps for checking and fixing focus order accessibility in Showit. By following these instructions, you can enhance user experience for individuals relying on assistive technologies, making your website more inclusive. We'll be using Chrome, a free Chrome extension, called Silktide, and Showit.

Showit

Silktide

Navigate to your website (here's my [demo page](https://brandgirlsdemo.com/) )

Click on the Silktide Extension

Choose Focus Order

Evaluate the tab order. It should be numbered left to right and top to bottom. If so, great! If not, continue.

Open a new tab, log into Showit

Navigate to the Canvas that needs to be reordered (in this case the "Header" in the "Site" tab)

Click "Canvas"

Reorder the Canvas Elements starting with #1 at the bottom of the list of elements.

In this case, click "Marcus Nash" and drag to the bottom of the list.

then click "New Book" and drag to the space right above "Marcus Nash"

Repeat until the Canvas elements are listed in reverse order (trust me 😂)

Click "Publish"

Click "Close"

Switch to tab with your website and refresh

Click on the Silktide extension

Choose Focus Order

You did it!
