Create a New Proposal

This guide provides a comprehensive step-by-step process for creating a proposal and subsequent purchase order using the New Mile platform, making it essential for anyone involved in pricing or sales. It simplifies the proposal creation process, ensuring accuracy in customer details, project specifications, and financial calculations. By following this guide, users can efficiently manage proposals and purchase orders, ultimately enhancing productivity and organization in their workflow.

Navigate to [https://app.newmile.com/proposals](https://app.newmile.com/proposals)

Click "Create Proposal"

Click the "Search by name of company or address" field.

Enter in the name of the customer requesting the proposal.

If the customer is brand new, you can add them directly from here following the steps to Create a New Organization.

Click the Customer Name

Click the "Name of project" field.

Type the name of the project the proposal is for

Click the 'Requested Date' field

Select the date for the Project

The 'Requested Date' is not a required field - It would typically be the planned start date of the project.

Click the "Search address" field.

Type the address or coordinates of the project

Select the correct Sales Rep

Click the "Customer Contact" field. Start typing the name of the customer contact, and select the appropriate user.

Click the "Describe role" field. Type the role this person has for the project.

Roles can vary. Project Managers, Superintendents, Foreman, etc.

Click "Save & Continue"

Click on "Settings"

Click the "Target Truck Revenue" field.

This is the gross dollar amount the truck should make running this job for a whole work day.

Type the amount the truck should make. For this example, we will say the trucks need to make $1,000/day if they run this job for their entire work day

Click "Add Material"

Click the "Search materials..." field. Type the name of the material you want to add first and click the material name to select it

Click the "Quantity" field.

Select the Unit Type for this material (Yard, Ton, etc.)

Click "Save"

Select the Material Supplier and location.

On the line item you just created, click this 'Quantity' text field. And Type in the quantity you plan to quote from this vendor.

If you are reselling the material, type in your cost of the material here

Click "%" to enter in the desired profit margin percentages in the Freight and Material Rate fields

Click the "Freight Rate" field.

Type the desired profit margin percentage for freight

Click the "Material Rate" field and type the desired profit margin percentage for material.

Click this icon to add a fee.

Select the desired additional fee

Click this number field and input the dollar amount for the fee and select the appropriate Unit Type for the fee.

Click "$" to display the freight and material rates in dollars

Click "Save & Continue" once you are satisfied with all the materials and rates

Click this icon to add comments to the proposal

Click this field to type in the comments

Click "Add"

Click this icon to add the Terms & Conditions for the Proposal

Click this field to type the Terms & Conditions

Click "Save"

Click this icon to download a pdf of the proposal to send to the customer

Click "Finalize" to go to the Proposal Summary Page

Click here to indicate if the bid item was won or lost

Click "Click to expand" on the map, to view the project location in relation to the vendor locations for 'won' bid items

Click "Create PO" when the project is starting for the won bid item

Verify all the PO information is accurate and indicate the desired ticket needs

Click "Save Purchase Order"
