With PaperCut Hive, you now control all print options (single/double-sided, color, staple, hole-punch) exclusively from your computer instead of changing them at the copier touchscreen. Because most apps' print dialogs (like the familiar Google Chrome print dialog) do not show all available print options, you will leverage the Mac system print dialog to set your options and create time-saving presets for your most commonly used print options.
Opening the System Print Dialog
In this example, we are printing from Chrome. Most apps have a "Print using system dialog" or similar button to bring up the system print dialog.
1
Select the "CS-PaperCut" printer.
2
If needed, click "More settings" to expand the additional options.
3
Scroll down and click "Print using system dialog", or use the keyboard shortcut [[Option + Command + P]] to go directly to the system print dialog.
Setting Basic Options
4
Select "CS-PaperCut" from the printer list if needed.
5
Basic options such as number of copies, page range, orientation, and scaling are available in the main window.
Setting Finishing Options
6
Scroll down and click to expand "Printer Options".
7
Click the "info" icon next to "Finishing" to open finishing settings.
8
Click the dropdown underneath "Print Style:" to select 1-sided or 2-sided printing as desired.
9
Click the dropdown underneath "Staple:" to turn stapling on or off as desired. Note that only large workroom copiers are capable of stapling.
10
Click "Misc. Finishing Modes...".
11
Click the "Hole Punch:" dropdown and select the "3 Holes" option if desired.
12
Click "OK" to confirm.
13
Click "OK" to save finishing settings.
Setting Paper Source
14
If you need to use the multi-purpose (bypass) tray, click the "info" icon next to "Paper Source" to open finishing settings.
15
Select "Multi-purpose Tray". If you are not using the multi-purpose (bypass) tray, leave this setting at "Auto".
Setting Color Options
16
Click the "info" icon next to "Quality" to open quality settings.
17
Click the dropdown underneath "Color Mode:" and select "Black and White" or "Color" as desired.
18
Click "OK" to save quality settings.
Creating Presets
You can use the Preset capability to save your most frequently used print options and recall them later with just a couple of clicks.
19
Click the "Presets" dropdown menu.
20
Select "Save Current Settings as Preset…" from the menu.
21
Type a descriptive name for your preset in the "Preset Name" field. In this example, we set Black & White two sided printing with staples and hole punch, so we named the preset accordingly for easy identification.
22
Select "All printers" to make the preset available globally. Leave "Type" as "Print Job Preset.
23
Click "OK" to create the preset.
Recalling Presets
24
While in the system print dialog, select the desired preset from the dropdown list.
After loading a preset, you can make additional ad-hoc changes (e.g., page range or number of copies) before printing.
Printing
25
After you have set your desired options and/or presets, click "Print" to send the document to the printer.
