Ensure that the target PC is connected to the same network as the SCCM server.
Power on the PC and enter the BIOS settings by pressing the appropriate key (usually F1 for Lenovo or F10 for HP) during startup.
In the BIOS settings, configure the boot order to prioritize network boot (PXE) as the first option.
Press F10, then Enter to Save the changes and exit the BIOS settings.
Restart the target PC and wait for the PXE boot process to begin.
The PC will request an IP address from the DHCP server, which should be provided by the SCCM server.
Once the IP address is assigned, the PC will download the necessary files from the SCCM server to initiate the imaging process. If this does not happen, please notify me and I will do my best to help you.
Once the deployment settings are downloaded and configured, the imaging process will start automatically.
The SCCM server task sequence will advertise all the available images. For helpdesk general deployment use the following image:
Windows 11 Enterprise 22H2 HelpDesk
Once you select the above image the process will begin automatically.
Sit back and wait for the process to complete. This may take some time depending on the size of the image and the network speed.
You can follow the Task Sequence Wizard while it runs to get an idea where it is in the process, this includes the loading bar on the screen with activity notices below.
After the imaging process is complete, the target PC will reboot.
Connect to the network.
Log into the administrator profile and go to settings to windows updates.
Run Windows Updates.
Search in the start menu for Lenovo System Update, or Lenovo Vantage and select run.
Running the above software will install any drivers needed by the OS regardless of the model being imaged.
Follow any prompts and restart the machine as needed.
Congratulations! You have successfully imaged a PC with SCCM using PXE boot.
