Overview of Queen's Big Interview Platform

Big Interview is a U.S.-based online tool that helps Queen's students to prepare for job interviews. It combines short training videos with realistic mock video interviews and instant AI feedback on answers, tone, body language and set up. With tailored practice questions for different careers and levels, it’s designed to build confidence and sharpen interview skills.

Technical Info

Before recording your interview, please check and note that you: 

• Must have microphone and webcam access (and allow the browser access to this). 

• A strong and stable internet connection is essential for recording and uploading videos. 

• Use one of the latest versions of a supported desktop browser — we recommend Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox (Mac or Windows). Some older browsers or settings can block or degrade audio/video permission handling.  

• Do not use Safari, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, or other browsers. These may cause issues with recording video or audio. 

• Must use a PC/Laptop. Mobile devices are currently not supported. 

• Ensure browser extensions are turned off (including any video/audio blocks). Please close and reopen your browser after you have applied the change. 

1. Getting Started (after Registering via the platform)

Using Big Interview helps you to anticipate, plan and practice your best response to likely interview questions for positions that you are targeting. Head to your dashboard, note the tabs at the top and click Getting Started, and watch the intro videos on your first visit.

• "GETTING STARTED": Offers excellent, short platform over video and demonstrations of how mock interviews and AI feedback works in Big Interview

• "PRACTICE": Choose from the practice interview options including: general and employment sector specific interviews; random questions ("roulette") and potentially challenging questions. Review your previous, recorded attempts & AI feedback to build, save & practice your best responses to a wide range of relevant questions.

  Be ready to share your camera/mic with Big Interview when prompted. There is also an option to share completed interviews with e.g. a mentor. However, do not share/request feedback from mentors or staff without their agreement in advance.

• "LEARN": Complete "Fast Track", "Mastery Track" or other courses and review tips.

• "ASSIGNMENTS": Occasionally a member of staff may set up an interview for specific students to complete. They will provide an "assignment access code" to relevant students.

• "RESUME": Not recommended for Queen's students (unless applying to role in USA). Use Queen's CareerSet for UK/ROI CV, LinkedIn Profile & cover letter reviews.

Jump straight into the "Fast Track" course, join lecturer-created assignments, or explore mock interviews and learning modules—all from your central dashboard

3. Assignments (Queen's produced video interviews and/or short course)

Use your assignment code from lecturers to join a specific, customised interview tasks, track your work under “My Assignments,” and see what’s been submitted—easy and organised.

4. Learn - Interview Curriculum

Follow structured learning tracks like Fast Track or Master Track to watch videos, take quizzes, complete homework, and earn a shareable certificate for LinkedIn.

5. Learn - Question Library

Browse question guides by topic, see example answers and warning points, then either build your own response or practice delivering it with feedback.

6. Practice - Practice Sets

Choose themed mock interviews—like “Top 10 Questions” or “Elevator Pitch”—adjust difficulty levels, view helpful tips, and record your answers for AI feedback.

7. Practice - Interview Roulette

Dive into 20 surprise questions in a row—with no hints given—to help you think fast and respond confidently under pressure.

8. Practice & Share - My Videos

Watch your recorded mock interviews and review AI feedback with easy-to-understand ratings—like bronze, silver, or gold—and suggestions for vocabulary, pace, fillers, lighting, and delivery.

9. Practice - Analytics

Quickly see how many video answers you’ve recorded, spot which you keep redoing most, and check your personalized Action Plan to focus on what truly needs improvement.

10. Practice - Build Answer

Build Answer helps you create strong, structured responses to common interview questions. Using prompts and the STAR method, you can plan, save, and refine your answers to feel more confident and prepared.

11. Practice - Using PracticeAI (trial period)

PracticeAI allows you to rehearse interviews: the AI reviews your CV alongside a specific job description and asks tailored questions. You are given detailed feedback. Queen's is currently trialing this feature, and we would appreciate your feedback. You can provide feedback here.
