Detezo is a free mobile application that enables phone-free schools and events via QR codes. Emergency services remain always enabled. The app is available to download on the App Store and Play Store. This document provides a step-by-step explanation on how to use Detezo.

This section applies to those who need to create, share, or end the Detezo QR codes used to limit smartphone usage
iPhone users download Detezo from the App Store
When Detezo asks to access Screen Time, select Continue
If you choose Don't Allow, you'll be asked again to allow access. This is required for the app to function properly.
When Detezo asks to access Screen Time, select Allow with Face ID and then Done
If you choose Don't Allow, you'll be asked again to allow access. This is required for the app to function properly.
When Detezo asks to access the Camera, select Allow
If you choose Don't Allow, you will be required to select Settings and then toggle Camera to On. This is required for the app to function properly.
After toggling Camera to On, return to the Detezo app
Students and event attendees do not need to register
From the Staff / Hosts page, select Sign Up
Complete all account information: Profile Photo / Name / Email Address / Password / Confirm Password
The Profile Photo will be displayed to students and attendees when they scan the QR code. The email address is used to notify you of actions taken in the app, such as creating a new QR code.
To verify your account, enter the One Time Password sent to the Email Address used for account registration and select Verify
A zone creates a unique QR code used to enforce phone-free schools and events
From the My Zones page, select + Create New Zone
Enter a Zone Name used to describe the zone's purpose
Enter a Message to Attendees to provide additional information you'd like to share with those will scan the QR code
Select Create Zone to generate a unique Detezo QR code
To finish creation, select Finish Zone Creation
Once the zone is created, you can share or modify
To share the zone, select the zone from My Zones then select Share QR Code
To modify the zone, select the zone from My Zones then change the Zone Name and/or Message to Attendees
Anyone who scanned the given Detezo QR code has their phone and all apps re-enabled for use
From the My Zones page, select the zone you'd like to end enforcement for
Select the garbage can icon from the very top right of the screen
To end enforcement, read the Confirmation box then select Delete
Ending enforcement requires deleting the zone. To avoid students and attendees creating photos or copies of the QR code to bypass enforcement, QR codes cannot be reused after deleting.
After selecting Delete, anyone who scanned the QR code (iPhone or Android) immediately has their phone and all apps re-enabled for use. They are also sent a notification to their phone as confirmation.
Modify your Profile Photo, Name, Password, delete account, log out, or contact Detezo support
From My Zones, select your Profile Photo image from the top right corner
To edit your Profile Photo and Account Name or delete account, select Edit Account
To change your account password, select Change Password
To email the Detezo team for support, select Contact Detezo Support
To return to the Detezo homepage, select Log Out
Students and event attendees do not register; they immediately use the built-in QR code scanner

Scanning a QR code is used to block apps on your phone besides emergency services
From the Students / Attendees page, scan the Detezo QR code using the built-in scanner
After successfully installing the app, the Detezo QR code can also be scanned using the iPhone's Camera app moving forward
When Detezo asks to send notifications, select Allow if you'd like a notification when the zone's enforcement ends
A successful scan is indicated by both an audio tone and the Detezo enforcement screen appearing
The Profile Photo in the top right corner reflects who created the zone
The Zone Name describes the zone's purpose
The Host Message provides additional information shared by the faculty / staff
The Emergency section provides access to Medical ID and Emergency Call
The Enforcement section explains how the Detezo zone is enforced and ends
To restore your phone's functionality, manually scan the QR code or wait for the host to end the zone
To end enforcement early, select Scan QR code to Exit as you depart and scan the same QR code used to enforce the zone
This is intended for students and attendees who exit the school/event early

If you choose Only this time, you'll be asked again the next time you open the Detezo app
If you choose Don't Allow, go to the Android's Settings app, select Apps, select Detezo, select Permissions, select Camera, select Allow only while using the app

When the Permission Request box appears, check the acknowledge box and select Allow
From Accessibility Permission, select Installed Apps, select Detezo, toggle from Off to On, select Allow, then return to the Detezo app
From Overlay Permission, select Enable, then toggle Detezo from off to On
If Detezo asks to take pictures and record video, select While using the app
Select Proceed
Steps #2-6 above are only required once when first installing the app
