The LIFE scholarship is an easy process, in that, if the student qualifies then the college "should" automatically award them LIFE as part of their scholarship package. To be on the safe side, I always determine on my end if they qualify at a 2 year and/or 4 year college. I then make sure they know which types of college they qualify at (2 year and/or 4 year) and instruct them to reach back out to me if LIFE is left off their scholarship package. I've only had this to happen one time, but better safe than sorry!
Palmetto Fellows has a process that you, as the guidance counselor, must follow in order for qualified students to receive this scholarship. You will first want to check out the qualifications and see if any of your students are eligible. If you will go to the link below, scroll down, and select Palmetto Fellows, you will see an another link that will start the application process and also other links for additional information. The deadline to have everything submitted to the CHE is typically June 15. The process is kinda lengthy if you're doing it for the first time and/or have a lot of students who qualify. Now would be a great time to get started on PF if needed! https://che.sc.gov/students-families-and-military/scholarships-and-grants-sc-residents
By June 15 you will have to submit a class rank list, by grade, for all of your high school students to the CHE. Typically in a May/June powerschool webinar they share exactly how the CHE wants that info (ie: email, submitted by district, etc...). This would be something you and your powerschool person will need to work together on.
If any of this is as clear as mud, feel free to give me a call at 864-418-0313. I'm happy to help!
