How to Use the Dividing Module in Clade

The Dividing Module helps you keep accurate records during one of the most hands-on parts of dahlia growing: digging and dividing. Whether you do it all at once in fall or in stages, this module gives you the structure to record every step.

    Getting Started

    • Open the Dividing Module
Click the Dividing tab in the top-left menu of your Clade dashboard.

    • Customize Your View
Start by going to View Settings to show or hide fields that match your dividing workflow.
→ Toggle the fields you want to view in the module on, and those you want to hide off.

    • Add Storage Locations (Optional)
Planning to track where tubers are stored?
      → Open the Sidebar Menu

      →Select Settings

→ Choose Preferences from the top left menu bar

→Scroll down to Storage Locations and start adding your custom locations.

After you add your locations in settings, they will be available for section in the dividing module.

    Field-by-Field Overview

    Location

The field or bed where the variety was planted.
→ This pulls automatically from the Planting Module if you've used it.

    Clumps Dug

Enter how many clumps you dug for a variety in a specific location.

    Clumps Divided

If you divide immediately, indicate that here.
If not, you can return later to mark when division happened.

    Non-Viable Tubers

Track how many tubers didn’t make it. This helps calculate a viability ratio over time for each variety.

    Total for Planting

Enter how many tubers you plan to plant—not sell or give away. This feeds into your Bed Planner.

    Storage Score

Fill this in when you pull tubers out of storage. If you already know which store well, score it upfront.

    Notes

Use the Notes section to log anything you notice while dividing, such as disease, rot, or unusually productive clumps.

    Date Stored

Track when you put a variety into storage. Over time, this helps you understand dormancy and sprouting patterns.

    Reporting

The Dividing Module integrates with your Clade reporting to show:

    • Tuber viability by variety

    • Storage success over time

    • Clump yield patterns

    • Readiness for replanting

The more consistently you use the module, the more insights you’ll gain season after season.
