Make a Canvas Observer Code for Parents

Observer Codes allow a parent, guardian or other trusted adult to see a student's Canvas courses.

• Codes only last for seven days.

• If the person hasn't accepted within those seven days, a new code will need to be generated.

• Each code can only be used one time.

There are two ways a student, teacher or parent can generate an Observer Code in Canvas.

Student Generated Observer Code

• If you are a student, use these directions to create an observer code for your parent or guardian.

• If you are a parent, you can also use these directions to create an observer code. To do this, you will need to follow these directions after your student has logged into his Canvas account.

Teacher Generated Observer Code

• If you are a teacher or administrator, use these directions to create an observer code for your parent or guardian.
