    🔳 How do I sign in to my school district laptop?

    • Use your computer username & password (also known as Active Directory or AD).

    • Each staff member is required to change their AD password at least once per year.

    • You can change your password anytime by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys.

    • Do NOT share your password with anyone (not a building tech, substitute, colleague, etc.).


    🔳 I forgot my password; what should I do?

    If you forget your password, contact your building tech. They can reset your AD password.


    🔳 What is the docking station on my desk, and how do I use it?

    Plug EVERYTHING into the docking station. Only plug ONE cable into your laptop... the docking station. This will charge your laptop and connect it to the projector, internet, and your USB tools.


    🔳 How do I quickly "lock" my computer screen?

    NEVER leave your computer logged in when it is unattended. You can quickly lock the screen by following one of these two options: (read more)

    • Close the lid on your laptop. This will lock the screen and put the device in "sleep" mode.

    • Windows ❖ + L is a keyboard shortcut to lock your screen without closing the laptop lid.


    🔳 Scrolling up/down with the touchpad feels "backward" to me. Can I change it?

    Depending on your previous experiences (i.e., you may used to a Mac vs. PC), the touchpad may feel like it is going the wrong direction when you use two fingers to scroll up/down. Solution:

    1. Press the Windows ❖ key on your keyboard... then type: touchpad settings

    2. Click the Touchpad Settings option from the menu

    3. Click the Scroll & Zoom drop-down menu

    4. Change the Scrolling Direction so the down motion scrolls up or down


    🔳 How do I change the display settings on my laptop and monitor/projector?

    Depending on how your classroom/office is set up, your laptop may be connected to one or more monitors or an LCD projector. Use the Windows ❖ + P keys to change your display settings.


    🔳 Can I connect my home printer to my school district laptop?

    It is possible to connect the laptop to a wireless printer, but personal software programs, including printer drivers, cannot be installed or supported on district laptops. (more information)
