Symptoms:
- Phone screen turns off or the device appears to “shut down” while you’re watching or listening to a class.
- Playback pauses or you have to unlock the phone and resume the video/audio.
Quick fixes to try now:
- Increase the screen timeout/auto-lock time while the class is running, then restore your normal settings afterward.
- Temporarily disable Low Power Mode (iPhone) if it restricts available auto-lock options.
Instructions for iPhone:
- Go to Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock, then choose a longer interval (for example 5 minutes) or Never while you’re listening. Apple notes that delaying Auto-Lock can use more battery.
- Check Low Power Mode: when it’s on, iPhone may limit Auto-Lock options. Go to Settings → Battery → Low Power Mode and turn it off temporarily.
Instructions for Android:
- Go to Settings → Display → Screen timeout and choose a longer option, such as 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or longer if available.
- Google Pixel: use Settings → Display → Screen timeout.
- Samsung Galaxy: use Settings → Display → Screen timeout.
Recommended settings for training videos:
- Set screen timeout/auto-lock to 10 minutes or Never for longer training sessions.
- Plug the phone in while the class runs to avoid battery drain and interruptions.
- After the session, switch your timeout/auto-lock back to your normal, shorter setting to conserve battery and protect privacy.
Safety and battery notes:
- Keeping the screen on longer or choosing Never will increase battery usage.
- If you use Never, remember to lock your phone afterward to protect personal data and prevent accidental taps.
- Turning off Low Power Mode temporarily will allow longer auto-lock options but may also increase battery use.
If problems persist:
- Restart your phone and try the above settings again.
- Ensure your phone OS is up to date.
- If playback still stops despite screen staying on, check the browser's background activity permissions.
