    1. Purpose

    To maintain a clean, tidy, and hygienic working environment by ensuring all employees take responsibility for cleaning their own workspace daily.

    2. Scope

    This SOP applies to all employees and covers personal desks, workstations, and immediate surrounding areas.

    3. Responsibilities

    • All Staff: Responsible for cleaning and tidying their personal workspace.

    • Managers: Monitor compliance and address issues promptly.

    4. Procedure

    Step 1. Daily Tasks (End of Each Day)

    • Clear desk of clutter, papers, and personal items not in use.

    • Empty personal desk bins into the main office waste bins/recycling points.

    • Remove food, drink containers, and perishables from the workspace.

    Step 2: Weekly Tasks (Every Friday or Last Working Day of the Week)

    • Organise drawers and storage areas to avoid buildup of unnecessary items.

    • Wipe down computer screens with appropriate screen cleaner.

    • Wipe down desk surface, keyboard, mouse, and phone with disinfectant wipes.

    • Sanitise shared touchpoints within your area (drawer handles, chair arms, etc.).

    Step 3: Monthly Tasks

    • Check and dispose of outdated documents in line with data protection policies.

    • Dust behind monitors and under desk areas.

    5. Cleaning Products Provided

    • Disinfectant wipes / surface cleaner spray

    • Microfibre cloths

    • Screen-safe cleaning wipes

    • Waste bags

      Products are stored in the [designated cupboard/storage area] and must be returned after use.

    6. General Rules

    • Eating at desks should be minimised to reduce crumbs and stains.

    • Spills must be cleaned immediately to prevent damage or stains.

    • Personal belongings should not obstruct cleaning access.

    • Electrical items must be switched off before cleaning.

    7. Compliance

    Non-compliance may result in reminders from management and, if persistent, escalation under workplace conduct procedures.

    8. Record Keeping

    Supervisors may carry out periodic checks and record compliance in theĀ Workspace Cleanliness Log.

    9. Review

    This SOP will be reviewed every 12 months or sooner if required.
