Start Page> Student Profile> Compliance> State/Province-SC> Students Not Tested on State Assessments
Initiate a New Record:
Click on [New] to create a new entry.
Complete Required Fields:
School: Automatically populated with the student's current school.
Test Category: Choose the appropriate category (e.g., Elementary/Middle School, High School End-of-Course).
Test: Select the specific assessment missed.
Reason: Pick the applicable reason code for not testing.
Save the Entry:
Click Submit to save the record.
When documenting reasons for a student not participating in an assessment, use the following standardized codes:
001: Homebound/Homebased (Medical)
002: Medical Absence
003: Deceased Student
004: Expelled
005: Withdrew
006: Dropout
007: Incarcerated
008: Death in Family
010: Non-Medical Absence
012: Parent Refusal under IDEA
013: Parent Refusal – Non-IDEA
018: Student Not Eligible for Alternate Assessment due to Age
019: Student Already Tested
020: Student Refusal
021: Other Reason
022: LEP Student – 1st Year in U.S. Exemption
023: Invalid Scores
Note: If multiple reasons apply, select the code with the highest value (i.e., the lowest numerical code)
Inclusion in State Reporting:
Ensure the field Include in State Reporting is set appropriately. A value of "1" indicates exclusion from state reporting. South Carolina Department of Education
State ID Requirement:
Students must have a valid State Student Number to be included in precode files.
Data Validation:
Regularly review validation reports in the Data Quality and Reporting (DQR) application to identify and correct errors. South Carolina Department of Education
Precode Exclusions:
Students with the following statuses are excluded from precode files:
Graduated students (Grade Level "99")
Inactive, preregistered, or transferred-out students
Non-funded students (e.g., home school, private school)
