UGP Administrative Procedures Guide
The purpose of the Uniform Grading Policy is to establish consistent grading practices across all schools in South Carolina to ensure fairness and transparency in student evaluations.
- A: 90-100
- B: 80-89
- C: 70-79
- D: 60-69
- F: 59 and below
- Regular courses: 4.0 scale
- Honors courses: 4.5 scale
- Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses: 5.0 scale
- All student grades will be recorded on official transcripts.
- Transcripts must reflect the weighted grades according to the course type.
- Each district must adopt the Uniform Grading Policy and ensure that all educators are trained in its application.
- Schools are required to communicate the policy to students and parents at the beginning of each academic year.
- Schools must provide midterm and final grade reports to students and parents.
- Grade appeals must be documented and processed according to district policies.
- The State Department of Education will conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with the grading policy.
