This job aid outlines the procedures for using the Rehire Reinstatement (REHIRE_REI) Smart HR Template for employees who have been automatically terminated, as well as discusses the downstream impacts to the employee’s Tracker I-9 record and Security Clearance in UCPath.
The REHIRE_REI template is specifically for reinstating employees who have been automatically terminated (mistakenly or unknowingly). The effective date entered on the REHIRE_REI template must be the same as the effective date of the termination.
Navigate to the Person Organizational Summary page in UCPath to view the termination date.
In the following example, the employee was auto-terminated on 6/12/2020, which was the Expected Job End Date.

The employee’s Tracker I-9 Record and I-9 Security Clearance was inactivated upon termination. The Rehire Reinstatement template does not have a field for the Tracker Profile ID, therefore the Tracker I-9 Record must be manually corrected by the Central Resource Unit (CRU) Tracker Administrator and the Security Clearance must be manually corrected by the UCPath Center.
Perform the following to correct the employee’s Tracker I-9 Record and Security Clearance:
To reactivate the employee’s Tracker I-9 Record, create a case with CRU and select the I-9 Tracker topic.
Select the appropriate employment type.
In the subject line, enter Rehire Reinstatement – Reactivate Tracker Record.
To reactivate the employee’s Security Clearance, create a case with UCPath Center.
In the Description field, provide the original Section 2 I-9 signature date for I-9 Security Clearance.
If the individual has E-Verify, provide the original E-Verify date. Contact CRU for assistance in determining these dates, if necessary.
NOTE: If you do not provide the original dates, the UCPath Center will enter today’s date and it will not match the original I-9 record.
