Using your MiCollab Client's Built-in Softphone and Call Control Features

Whether you're accessing the MiCollab Client from your desktop or on-the-go via your mobile device, you can effortlessly initiate and accept calls directly through the application. This detailed guide is crafted to equip you with every piece of information necessary to swiftly navigate and make the most of the clients calling features.

Determining What Devices You Have Access To

Depending on your specific setup, you may have access to more than one type of device, each capable of receiving or initiating calls. For instance, your primary device may be a physical desk phone but you may also have one or more soft phones allocated to your MiCollab Client's profile.

To confirm what devices you have access to, follow the steps below:

In this example, the user has a physical desk phone, a desktop softphone, and a mobile softphone. The device that is currently displayed in blue on the bottom right side of the client is the active device. When you initiate calls from the MiCollab Client, it will use the specified active device.

Understanding the Difference Between Desktop and Mobile Softphones

If your device list shows you have two different softphones, you may be wondering how they differ from one another.

The desktop softphone is used on the desktop / PC version of the MiCollab Client and the mobile softphone is used on the mobile version of the MiCollab Client.

The reason you will find both versions of softphones listed within your devices, even if you are presently only using the desktop client for example, is because you have the flexibility to choose which of these devices your calls are directed to.

For example, you may be in the office and currently taking calls on your desk phone but want to make sure you don't miss a call if you step away from your desk. If you also have the mobile MiCollab Client installed on your cell phone, you can direct your calls to both your desk phone, and to your mobile softphone. How this is done is discussed in the following section.

Using Your Availability Status to Direct Calls To/From your Softphone

Your MiCollab Client's availability statuses are key in empowering you to control where your calls are routed to and which device they originate from. When you want to use your softphone, it's important to know which of your statuses are programmed to send calls to which device.

      Changing your availability status.

To find and switch between your existing statuses:

Note: In the event that a softphone is your primary communication tool, and you do not utilize a traditional desk phone, your "In the Office" availability status likely directs your incoming calls to your softphone by default.

Reviewing and modifying your existing availability status

To review your availability statuses and confirm the devices set to receive your incoming calls and place outgoing calls, please follow the quick steps outlined in the guide below:

Choosing the Hardware Used by Your Softphone

When utilizing a softphone via your PC client, numerous options are available for selecting your microphone, speakers, and camera. However, if the devices in use haven't been configured within the client as your preferred hardware for softphone conversations, this could lead to issues such as one-way audio or a complete absence of sound, often resulting from an unselected microphone or headset.

To confirm or change the hardware used with your softphone, follow the example below:
