WUSA Audio/Visual Equipment Instructions

      Speakers

      Bose S1 Pro+ and Bose L1 Pro 8

      • Bose S1 Pro+ is battery powered, and the Bose L1 Pro 8 is not (requires a nearby power outlet).

      • FOR THE L1 PRO 8 ONLY: Remove the longer extension piece from the accompanying bag and firmly insert it into the top of the subwoofer (base), then insert the smaller speaker piece to the top of the extension. Make sure these are firmly in position or audio will not come through correctly.

      • Press the power button to turn on the speaker.

      • Connect wired microphones or instruments into channels 1 and 2. Volume, treble, bass, and reverb can be controlled via the knob to the right of the channel.

      • FOR THE S1 PRO+ ONLY: These speakers are equipped with wireless transmitters to the left of input channels 1 and 2. Push in to remove these and plug them into microphones that would normally require an XLR cable, they will now work wirelessly. Press the power button to turn on the transmitter, when the blue light is solid, it is connected successfully, press again to turn it off. Hold down the silver button and pull to remove the transmitter from a microphone.

      • Connect aux inputs into channel 3 via a 1/4 inch or 1/8 inch aux cable. Volume, bass, and treble can be controlled via the knob to the right of the channel.

      • Hold the Bluetooth button to the right of channel 3 until flashing blue to pair your Bluetooth device. Volume, treble, and bass can be controlled via the knob to the right of channel 3.

      • You can connect the speaker to your computer via a USB or USB-C connection located below channel 3.

      • Inputs from one speaker can be sent to another by connecting an XLR cable from the "line out" port of the main speaker to input channel 1 of another speaker.

      • FOR THE S1 PRO+ ONLY: You can use the Bose S1 Pro+ speaker as an audio monitor and microphone input for online livestreams. To set this up, please watch this video.

      'Daisy Chaining' Two Speakers

      • When connecting two speakers using an XLR cable, connect one end of the cable to the 'LINE OUT' of the speaker. This speaker will now become your 'Primary/Master speaker'.

      • Connect the other end of the XLR cable to the 'INPUT' of your secondary speaker.

      • The speaker that outputs via 'LINE OUT' is the primary speaker, i.e., primary means of input. If using microphone(s), both must connect to this primary speaker. You can only use the secondary speaker as a means of output from the now-primary speaker, nothing else.

      • Please keep this in mind when attempting to connect two speakers. Additionally, ensure the volume on both speakers is similar. Otherwise, you run the risk of blowing out the secondary speaker if the volume on the primary is set higher than the secondary.

      Microphones

      Shure SM58

      • Standard plug-and-use microphones, connect to speaker or mixer input channels via XLR cables or wireless transmitters (Bose S1 Pro+ speaker only).

      Shure BLX228/PG58 and Shure BLX24/PG58

      • Wireless microphone and receiver sets. BLX228 (2 Mic set) and BLX24 (1 Mic set) have battery powered microphones and outlet powered receivers.

      • Connect the receiver to a wall power outlet, then connect the receiver to the input channel(s) of the speaker or mixer you are using via XLR cables.

      • Power on the receiver to see the audio frequency that the associated microphone(s) must be connected to. Then power on the microphone and remove the casing by twisting the bottom of the microphone case. Check that the microphone(s) match the receiver's frequency. If not, press the channel and group buttons until they match.

      Mixers

      Bose ToneMatch T8S

      • Audio mixer with 8 input channels used if more than 2 audio inputs are required for an event.

      • Connect the mixer to a wall power outlet. Make sure that all volume and trim knobs are turned counterclockwise all the way. Power on the mixer using the switch located on the back.

      • Connect all audio inputs to the mixer input channels via XLR or aux cable connections instead of connecting them directly to speakers. Then use XLR cables to connect the left and right audio output channels of the mixer to the first input channels of each speaker (max 2 speakers), or if you only have 1 speaker use only 1 connection (this will change it to mono audio).

      • Make sure that speaker volume is set around 1/4 of their maximum output on each speaker, and control the speaker volume from the mixer for the duration of your event.

      • For basic microphone setup please see this video.
