    • All releases starting from October 2024 can be found below.

    Release: 5th November 2024

Reverse Charge - The engine launched in the previous release as a trial in Malta has now been extended to the following countries:

    • Ireland

    • Cyprus

    • United Arab Emirates (UAE)

    • Isle of Man

    • Jersey

Major tax engine update - A major update to the generate.TAX engine enhances the calculation of amounts, tax, and box values on tax returns. This update not only improves performance in generating returns but also resolves issues in specific accounting cases that previously caused incorrect values.

This version requires an additional setup step in the mapping screen, with a new option available to specify input and output tax rate types.

Note: If these tax rates are not mapped correctly, the boxes in the tax return will display incorrect positive or negative values.

Select the tax rates and use the arrows to move them between 'Input' and 'Output'. In the Tax Rate Mapping box on the right hand side, you may also toggle between input tax (arrow pointing left) or output tax (arrow pointing right).

This release also includes various small improvements and bug fixes:

    • Improved filters are now available across all pages.

    • User preferences will now be remembered on each page.

    • In the tax return, the "view mode" (eye icon) enables transaction drill-down.

    • PDF files generated on the tax submission screen have been optimized, reducing their file size significantly.

    Release: 15th October 2024

Reverse Charge - a new engine handling the reverse charge has been implemented which caters for situations where this is taken care of within the accounting software or if this will need to be handled by generate.TAX. The following option is now available in the mapping page:

The respective tax rates must first be mapped to the correct boxes, and then there is the option to select the applicable rates through the right hand window pane and include the tax rate to be applied and calculated in the Output and Input tax boxes.

This solution has only been made available on the Malta Article 10 VAT return - the mapping screen of all entities needs to change as the reverse charge boxes will no longer be automatically calculated. The Output and Input VAT boxes need to be manually mapped.

In addition, system will now prompt to save the mapping if you try to exit before saving.

Export Tax Submission - The Export to PDF was made available earlier this month. In addition, a new export to Excel option has been added - this creates a file with the filled in VAT return and includes all transactions and exceptions. Useful feature requested by many accountants.

Mapping Tab - After a Tax Submissions is saved, the mapping of that tax submission is now added to the screen as a new tab - this is important so you can easily refer to this tab to double check the mapping on how this submission was calculated.

In addition, system will now prompt to save tax submission if you try to exit before saving.

VAT Number Checker - Various small changes to the filters and the front screen.

My Profile - This page has been upgraded with a login history showing login details for all your account and all system users. This improves the security of the application and ensures any unauthorised access can be flagged. Also includes other small improvements to the My Profile page.

This release also includes various small improvements and bug fixes. Also includes this new section documention What's New.
