    1.6a Importing Products and Services

    • 0 step
    Start in the Sample company.
To complete this exercise, you must be in the Sample company. From your QBOA account, click on the Gear icon on the top right corner of the screen, then select Sample company.
Note that you will be logged out of your current account. If you are sure, click "Continue" to confirm.
Now let's get started with the exercise.
    Click the "Gear icon".
    Click "Import data".
    Click "Products and Services".
For the purposes of this exercise, you will use the Sample File to replicate Craig's spreadsheet.
    Click "Download a sample file".
Once the file has been downloaded, you will need to locate it on your computer.
Click "Browse" to locate the file on your computer and select it for uploading.
Once the file has been selected you can continue.
    Click "Next".
The next step is to match the fields (column headings) in the spreadsheet to the fields in QuickBooks Online. If this were a real life scenario, you might have to make adjustments. For the purposes of this exercise, leave everything as is.
    Click "Next".
Now that you have confirmed the fields that you are importing and matched them to QBO, the next step is to confirm the data in those fields. One of the records is for a Non-Inventory product. For some reason, the Sample File does not match the correct format for the Type. You can tell this because it is highlighted in red.
Use the dropdown to select "Non-inventory".
    Click "Import".
Note that “Sell” indicates this is a product you sell. “Buy” indicates this is a product you buy. “Track” indicates an Inventory product. You will learn about Inventory products in the Advanced level course: [www.fastandeasyqbo.com/advanced.](https://fastandeasyqbo.samcart.com/products/fast-easy-qbo-advanced-certification)
Notice you have received an error message because the product “Design" already exists in Craig’s QBO. If you wanted to overwrite the product name that is currently in QBO with the information that’s being imported, you could check the Overwrite box.
