2. EVPN Multihoming link configuration

The first step in creating an EVPN multihomed tenant is to add more physical cables to allow for multiple paths for traffic. EVPN Multihoming supports up to four paths from a tenant, each going to a different VTEP. In the interest of time, this example demonstrates adding the first redundant link only.

The existing network topology shows Host1-40 with a single network path.

Click the cable icon once to add an additional path.

Click Host1-40. Select the "ens4" interface on the host. Note: the cable may not appear until connected to both endpoints.

Click Leaf2 and select "Eth1/1"

Notice the new cable is in place between Host1-40 and Leaf2. Drag an ellipse from the box and place it over the two cables from Hosts1-40.

Click anywhere below the hosts to finish placing the ellipse. The diagram below shows the proper placement. Note: The ellipse is used as a visual reminder of where link aggregations exist in a topology diagram.

Nicely done! The Host1-40 LAG ports running LACP (required) have been pre-configured in the interest of time. Whether using bonding (Linux) or teaming (Windows), the same LACP configuration is used for EVPN Multihoming as is used for other link aggregation methods, such as MCLAG. The tenant host is only aware of one logical connection.
