To complete this exercise, you must be in the Sample company. From your QBOA account, click on the Gear icon on the top right corner of the screen, then select Sample company.
Note that you will be logged out of your current account. If you are sure, click "Continue" to confirm.
Now let's get started with the exercise.
2
From the left navigation bar, click "Reports".
QBO offers a "Modern View" for some of the reports. You can tell which have this option because it will say "New Enhanced Experience." We'll use one of these.
3
Scroll down to the Sales and Customers section, then click the "Sales by Customer Detail" report.
The report has been run, but it needs a little customization to meet Craig's requests.
4
Click on the "down arrow" next to This month to date to expand the dropdown, then select "This year to date".
If you are running this report at the beginning of the year, you may not have much data. For the purposes of this exercise, select different dates, if necessary.
Now that the date range is correct, we need to customize the report so it's only showing Freeman Sporting Goods.
5
Click "Filter".
6
In the Filter field, select "Customer name".
Remember, we want to see all of the locations, not just Freeman. Freeman would be considered the parent, and the locations are considered the children.
7
In the Operation field, select "equals including children".
8
In the Value field, select "Freeman Sporting Goods".
One of the great things about Modern View is that the report is automatically updated when you make changes. Click anywhere outside of the field you just entered to see the update.
9
We are done with filtering; click the "X" on the top right corner to exit.
The report is showing what we need for Craig, but if you wanted to adjust the columns, you would click "Columns".
From here you can click, drag, and move the columns to how you prefer. You can also click on the eye icon next to any column to hide a column.
For now, we will leave everything as is.
