The "show evpn es detail" command is used to validate the EVPN multihoming configuration. Use this command along with the pings from the previous section to ensure your setup is working correctly.

This is a crucial step in determining a proper configuration. In some cases, you might observe correct ping behavior even though the configuration is not entirely valid. Running this command will help ensure an accurate setup.

VTEPs participating in the multihoming port channel create an Ethernet segment (es). MAC addresses and MAC/IP bindings learned on one VTEP are stored on all VTEPs in the Ethernet segment. Performing the **show evpn es detail** command on each VTEP provides details of the Ethernet segment configuration. For successful EVPN multihoming configurations, the following settings will display for Type and State: Type: **Local, Remote** State: **up**

Enter the **show evpn es detail** command in **Leaf1.**

Enter the **show evpn es detail** command again on **Leaf2.**

Troubleshooting tip: If all pings are working as expected, but the Type and State are not displayed as Type: **Local, Remote** State: **up** it is likely that the configuration steps were not followed identically for each VTEP. The example commands in this guide should be followed for each VTEP participating in the multihoming. See the Enterprise SONiC User Guide for additional information and troubleshooting steps.
