    A.5.2 1099's and W-9's

    • 0 step
Start in the QBO Advanced Sample Company by following the link below. Note that you will need to do the "I am not a robot" step. \ [**https://qbo.intuit.com/redir/testdrive_us_advanced**](https://qbo.intuit.com/redir/testdrive_us_advanced)
We will start by looking at the Contractors page.
From the left navigation bar, hover over Expenses, then select "Contractors".
There is only one contractor set up. Let's set up some more.
    Click "Vendors".

    Books by Bessie

We'll start with Books by Bessie. We will need to turn on 1099 tracking for her.
    Click "Books by Bessie".
    Click "Edit".
Scroll down and click the "checkbox" next to Track payments for 1099.
    Click "Save".
Now that we have turned on 1099 tracking, Books by Bessie shows up on the Contractors page. Let's see how that looks.
    Click "Contractors".
We turned on tracking, but we still need to attach the W-9 info. Let's see how to do that.
There are a couple of different ways to handle the W-9 information. Let's look at one of them now.
    Click "Finish setup and pay".
You will notice with this option you can have Intuit email them an invite to create a free account to fill out their info. If you choose this option, Intuit will automatically create a Self Employed QBO Subscription and will continue to remind them until they complete the setup. Some find that a bit annoying, so it is not the process we will use.
    Click the "X".
Instead, we will add the information manually. We could do it from the previous screen, but let's look at another way.
    Click "Books by Bessie".
