    Initiating Update Request

    Navigate to the record for which you need to request an update. **NOTE**: the update request form is accessible from a Constituent record or an Organization record. You will not be able to initiate the request from a Household record. Household updates can be requested through the constituent.
    In the compact layout on the left, select the drop down menu.
    From a constituent record, you will click "Request Constituent Update"
    From an organization record, you will click "Request Organization Update"
    The update screen will open. You will see the constituent/organization's Name and Donor ID listed on the left side. **NOTE**: to go back to the constituent or organization record, you can use the "Back" button in your browser to return to the previous screen.
    You will select your update type(s) using the picklist on the right. Note that you can select multiple update types by holding the "Control" (Windows computers) or "Command" (Mac computers) keys while selecting options.
    Select one or more update types from **Requested Constituent Update(s)** or **Requested Organization Update(s)**. When you make a selection, you will notice additional fields appear on the form. **NOTE**: There will be required fields based on the update types you select to ensure the information is comprehensive. If you select an update type that you ultimately don't need, make sure to remove the selection from the field.

    Primary Name and General Demo-Bio (Constituent)

    "Select Primary Name and General Demo-Bio" from the **Requested Constituent Update(s)** field. For a constituent, you will be able to update the donor's primary name, birth date, ethnicity, gender, or preferred pronouns. To update the donor's **Primary Name**, enter the information in the fields on the left.
    Enter a birth day, month, and year to update the donor's **Birthdate**. Select one or more **Ethnicity** values. NOTE: if necessary, you can select multiple values by holding the "Control" or "Command" key.
    Select a picklist value for **Gender** or **Preferred Pronouns**.
    If you have any additional information about the name or demo-bio updates, please enter them in the **Primary Name and General Demo-Bio Details** text field. Please include anything the Constituent Management staff might need to process the update.

    Primary Name and General Information (Organization)

    Select "Primary Name and General Information" from the **Requested Organization Update(s)** field.
    Enter the organization's **Name** and **Name Type**. Update the organization's **Industry**.
    If you have any additional information about the update, please enter them in the **Primary Name and General Demo-Bio Details** text field. Please include anything the Constituent Management staff might need to process the update.
