PubMed is a curated database of literature in:
- Biomedical and life sciences
- Beahvioural sciences
- Chemical sciences
- Bioengineering
You can configure PubMed to check for full text using two methods:
Method A: Accessing PubMed through a special URL

Access this [Monash University PubMed special URL](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?otool=iaumullib)
The PubMed link listed on the A-Z databases uses this special URL.

Create a search in PubMed.

Click on the title of one of your results.

You'll see **Check for full text** which links you back to our Library search tool.

Alternatively, under each result, you may see an option to **Search Institution Library** which also takes you back to our Library search tool.
Method B: Setting up My NCBI to display "Check for full text"

Navigate to <https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/>

Click **Log in** if you already have an NCBI account. If your password has been retired [link your account to Monash University](https://ncbiinsights.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ncbi-login-retirement-faqs/#linking-3rd)or register to create a new account.

Click **Log in again with Monash University, Australia.**

Click on your username.

Select **Dashboard** from the dropdown menu.

Click **NCBI Site Preferences.**

Click **Outside Tool.**

Click **M** to find Monash University in the list.

Select the **Monash University Check for full text** check box.

If you prefer to view the abstract in your results rather than the default summary click **My NCBI** again.
