Accessing Books from the NC Kids Digital Library

EVERY student in Carteret County Public Schools has access to this resource. I am showing an example of researching famous people for biographies, but you could also remind your students that this is a tool for them to access eBook versions of popular library books when the physical library books are already checked out. (Ahem, "Dogman", I'm talking to you!)

Navigate to [https://nes.carteretcountyschools.org/](https://nes.carteretcountyschools.org/)

Click "Rapid Identity Portal"

Click NC Educator Resources.

Click NC Kids Digital Library.

Click "Sign in"

Click the "Select your library" field.

Click "Carteret County Public Library"

Click this text field.

Type in your full student number for the "Card Number" and type in the last four digits of your student number for the PIN.

Click "Search"

Type what you want to search for in the search box (Example: "Rosa Parks") [[enter]]

Click "AVAILABLE" titles if you want to read the book immediately.

Click "BORROW"

Click this dropdown if you would like to change the borrow time. You can select 7, 14, or 21 days for a book loan.

Click "BORROW"

Click "Read now in browser Read-along ebook"

You can use the arrows on your keyboard or your mouse to click through and "turn" the pages of the book.

To Return a book: Click "GO TO LOANS"

Click "Return".

Click "RETURN TITLE"

Here's what to do if you want a book that is not available currently.

Click "Search"

Type "henry ford [[enter]]"

Click "UNAVAILABLE"

Click "ADD TO WISH LIST"

You will be notified when a book is available that's on your list! Also, if you or your students use a phone or iPad, you can access the books through the Libby or Sora/Overdrive apps using the same student number/PIN to access these books. This is a great way to help students find the books they want even if we don't have them in the library or you don't have them in your classroom.
